I’m considering opening a family-friendly pool hall in Ascension Parish and wanted to get some honest feedback from the community.
Years ago, I owned and operated a pool hall in Denham Springs. One thing people often asked me was how I managed to keep the environment safe and avoid fights. My answer was simple: I charged per person instead of just per table. In my experience, when everyone has something invested in being there, people tend to respect the facility, the equipment, and each other. It helped create a much better atmosphere.
The concept would be focused on providing a safe, clean place for teenagers, families, and adults to enjoy pool and hang out. As the business grows, I would also like to gradually add a small retail area featuring pool tables, cue sticks, cases, gloves, and related products. However, in the beginning, the focus would be strictly on operating the pool hall and offering quality pool tables to get the business established and running smoothly.
Some of the ground rules would be:
✅ No smoking
✅ No va**ng
✅ No alcohol
✅ No gambling
✅ Clear behavior rules and expectations
The facility would have approximately 15 pool tables, a Coke machine, and vending machines for snacks and drinks.
Table rental pricing would be:
• $10 per hour minimum for 1 or 2 people
• Each additional person at the table would be $5 per hour
* 3 people = $15/hour
* 4 people = $20/hour
My goal is to create a place where people can come have fun in a clean, family-friendly environment, especially younger people who don’t always have many options for things to do locally.
A few questions for the community:
• Would you or your family use a place like this?
• Do you think Ascension Parish needs something like this?
• What hours would you like to see?
• What would make you want to visit regularly?
• Would you support a pool hall that is strictly no smoking, no va**ng, no alcohol, and family-friendly?
I’d appreciate any honest feedback, positive or negative. Thanks everyone!
