The monarchs are back in Texoma, and they're hungry.

The first monarch butterflies are showing up across our area on their fall migration south. It's a long trip, and they stop along the way to refuel on nectar.

That's where your yard comes in. A sunny bed or a few containers on the patio can give them a place to land and feed.

Three we have in stock right now:

Butterfly Flower Milkweed. Bright orange blooms and a Texas native. Milkweed is also the only plant monarch caterpillars feed on, so it supports the next generation too.

Gregg's Mistflower. Soft lavender-blue blooms that monarchs flock to in fall. It's tough, drought-tolerant once established, and comes back year after year.

Fall Asters. Purple blooms that open late in the season, right when the migration is moving through.

Fall is also one of the best planting windows we get around here. Cooler weather gives roots time to settle in before winter, so what you plant now comes back stronger next season.

Come see us in Denison and we'll help you pick the right ones for your yard's sun and soil. 🍂

Think your growing season wrapped up with the summer heat? Not around here.

As those triple-digit days finally back off in Texoma, the cool-season crops are just getting started. Lettuce, kale, and spinach actually prefer the milder days and cooler nights headed our way, and that means fresh salads coming out of your own beds well into fall.

Our cool-season starts are on the tables now. Lettuce: Iceberg, Butter Crunch, and Paris Island. Greens: Storm Kale, Red Russian Kale, and Spinach. Get transplants in while the soil's still warm and they'll root fast, then keep giving you leaves as the weather turns.

Set your bed up right and you'll be picking crisp lettuce for weeks.

Come see us in Denison and we'll help you pick the varieties that fit your garden and get you everything you need to start it this week. 🌱

How many years do you think one local nursery has been guiding Texoma gardeners? Swipe to find out.

Go ahead and guess. Most folks land on a decade or two.

Forty years. That's how long we've been right here in Denison, helping landscapes across this region grow into something worth looking at.

Four decades means we've seen it all around here: every drought summer, every late frost, every heavy clay bed that fought a new gardener. All of it shaped what we put on our tables.

So when you walk our floor today, the seasonal arrivals waiting for you carry the weight of 40 years of knowing what actually thrives in North Texas, not just what sells.

You get the benefit of every season that came before this one.

Come see us in Denison and let four decades of Texoma knowledge help you grow something great this season. 🌱

Standing in front of a wall of fertilizer bags, trying to decode all those numbers? You're not alone. It's one of the most common questions we get at the counter.

Those three numbers on the bag are the NPK ratio: nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium. Each one does a different job, and matching them to what your plant actually needs right now is what separates good results from wasted money.

Here are the three questions we'll walk through with you:

What stage is your plant in? Leafy growth wants more nitrogen. Blooming and fruiting want more phosphorus and potassium.

Are you feeding the soil or feeding the plant? Some products build long-term soil health, others give a quick boost to a plant that needs it now.

Organic slow-release or fast-acting? A slow-release like Espoma feeds steadily over weeks. A fast-acting product works quicker but needs reapplying.

We carry a good range of options, from Espoma and FoxFarm to Medina and Ferti-lome, each with a different NPK profile for different jobs.

Bring us your plant, your problem, or just the bag you're staring at. Come see us in Denison or Sherman and we'll help you match the right one to your yard. 🌱

First time at Twin Oaks? You walk in, see hundreds of plants, and kinda freeze. We get it.

Here's the path that makes sense.

Start outside. Head to the outdoor rows first, where the natives and drought-tolerant picks are grouped together. That section alone answers most of the questions first-timers have about what actually survives here.

Then tell us about your yard. Our staff are garden coaches at heart, so tell us your sun exposure, your soil type, and what's died on you before. You'll walk away with a shortlist in minutes.

And don't skip the soil. Grab a bag of amendment or mulch before you leave. Even good plants struggle in North Texas clay without a little help getting established.

One visit usually turns into a regular habit. Come see us in Denison or Sherman and we'll get you started 🌱

Your backyard can be a monarch pit stop this fall.

Monarchs are moving through North Texas right now on their way south. It's a long trip, and they stop along the way to refuel on nectar.

That's where your yard comes in.

A few blooming plants in a sunny bed, or even a couple of containers on the patio, give them a place to land and feed. You don't need an acre. One well-placed plant helps.

Two we like for this time of year:

Turk's Cap. Those vivid crimson blooms draw in butterflies and hummingbirds, and it thrives in a range of conditions without much fuss.

Russian Sage. Aromatic lavender-blue flowers and a reliable nectar source through summer and into fall.

Fall is also one of the best planting windows we get around here. Cooler weather gives roots time to settle in before winter, so what you plant now comes back stronger next season.

Some gardens start with a plan. Others start with a walk down a row that stops you in your tracks.

Right now the rows are packed with yucca, from solid greens to the variegated ones that catch the light just right. They shrug off heat and want very little water, which makes them a good fit for our North Texas summers.

Keep walking and you'll pass natives, pollinator favorites, and drought-tolerant picks on both sides of the path.

Come see us in Denison or Sherman and walk the rows for yourself. Your next favorite plant is out here somewhere 🌿

Fall shrubs put on a color show all their own.

Summer's winding down here in North Texas, and a lot of yards start looking tired right about now. Fall shrubs are just getting started.

As the nights cool off, their leaves shift through reds, oranges, and golds. That color hangs on all fall and carries right on into winter, long after the summer annuals have called it quits.

We've got fall color showing up all over the nursery right now. It's the kind of thing you really need to see in person.

Fall is also a smart time to plant shrubs here. The soil's still warm enough to push root growth, and what you set in now has all winter to settle into that Blackland clay before next summer's heat.

Come see us in Denison, walk the rows, and we'll help you pick the right shrub for your spot. 🍂

A lot of flowers start fading by August. These three keep going, and the monarchs are already looking for them.

August and September are peak migration season here in North Texas. We keep three plants that bloom hard right when the pollinators need them most. Swipe through for all three.

Turk's Cap is one of the toughest plants in our summer toolkit. Those red tubular blooms fire from July through frost, and hummingbirds track it like a beacon on their fall push south. It handles heat, clay soil, and part shade without complaint.

Henry and Augusta Duelberg salvias bloom heavy in late summer. They make exactly the nectar monarchs want during their September run through Texas. Plant them in full sun and they'll keep going until the first hard freeze with almost no fuss.

Hummingbird Mint (Agastache) keeps throwing up fragrant flower spikes through the hottest months, when most perennials have gone dormant. Bees and butterflies work it constantly. It's drought-tolerant once established, and it comes back stronger every year.

Monarch migration through North Texas peaks in late September. Plants you put in the ground now will be in full bloom right when they arrive.

4.5 stars from 124 reviews. Earned one conversation at a time, one plant at a time, across every season we've been open here in Denison.

To us, that number means 124 neighbors who walked in with a tricky spot in the yard, asked us what would actually work, and went home with the right plant for it.

Every star is a shady corner that finally has something growing in it. A first-time gardener who wasn't sure where to start. A landscaper picking out the right size for the job.

Thank you for that. We read every review and we're grateful for each one.

Come see us and we'll help you find the right plant for your spot too. 🌿
