I’ll start!
WFL(50’s), Camco and Roger’s - I like the quality of the build of these drums. They are so well built! You can see it, feel it, hear it. The edges, the shells, the hardware, chrome plating. It’s all well designed, and the finished product shows it.
It’s not that I dislike the others, but the cream always rises to the top!

It’s been quite an enjoyable project getting this Rogers set just right. Being a perfectionist comes in handy at times like this. From cleaning up the chrome and shells, to acquiring the correct parts, sanding and painting the BD hoops, and assembling everything properly.
I didn’t track the time, but I would estimate about 30-35 hours or so.
Everyone always wants to know what it takes to get something like this done. Well, it’s not a cheap endeavor! Despite getting a deal on the FT and snare, I had to acquire a BD, which came with a matching 12” tom that I used as it didn’t have any extra holes and was in really good condition. Also, 4 bass drum lugs, a correct cymbal L arm(those don’t come cheap either!), a set of correct FT legs, a nice BD hoop with original inlays, heads for the snare, 12” tom and bass drum, and a Rogers logo for the front.
I still have a 13” Fullerton tom to sell, and once I do that, I’ll have sold everything that came with the original purchase including a Roland Blues Cube amp, Boss pedal, some cymbals and hardware.
All in, it’s right about $1000, not including the labor.
So, next time you come across a deal on something you can do, don’t hesitate to breathe new life into a 60 year old instrument, but remember what it’s going to cost to get it right!
I appreciate all the positive comments throughout this project, which is why I wanted to share the details with you.
I will be going into my busy season beginning next week, so there won’t be many posts from me. Have a great summer of 2026!

Well, this is it! They’re finally completed, and exactly a month to the day since I grabbed the 14x14 and Powertone from the basement of the crack house.
They’re more beautiful and glowing in person. I can’t wait to pair up some cymbals later today and play them.
Rogers 12-14-20 w/matching Powertone, all Covington made except the Dayton FT. Still a near perfect set up!

Let them sit until Saturday morning and I can finish up this gorgeous set of Rogers! T’s, claws, heads and logo are ready to go!

Yes, I tape off the inlays. The first time while sanding using regular blue tape, then again with Frog tape before painting.
These will be gorgeous!
