There’s an art to making something new feel like it’s lived a hundred lives.

For this replica antique frame, we built up layer upon layer of character — from aged finishes and worn edges to the accumulated distress and grime that give an old frame its character.

Each layer was thoughtfully added, worked back, and refined to create the look of years of handling, weathering, and time. The little imperfections, the depth of the patina, and the subtle buildup of grime are what make it feel authentic.

This family heirloom was misplaced and forgotten for many years. After its rediscovery, our client wanted to ensure it would never be tucked away again — preserved, protected and enjoyed for generations to come.

We designed a bespoke conservation frame featuring a hand-gilded finish with a custom wood tone to complement the client’s dining room furniture. The fragile textile was carefully hand-stitched to a fabric wrapped mat and surrounded by fabric wrapped shadow box walls, creating both support and depth without compromising the piece.

Finished with Optium Museum Acrylic, the textile is protected from UV light, dust and static while offering exceptional clarity for viewing.
