Today marks the fourth year since I opened the original Local.
Local. started as a love story between a girl and her rural upbringing. A love letter in the form of a gift shop. A cosmic celebration of the little places I have been blessed by every day since I took my first breath.
The day the doors opened, a short but forever-ago day, etched a new line in my story. One that I cannot soon ignore. It changed me. Showed me that I can. Showed me that building something beautiful is nothing without the balance that brought me there.
Now, looking at the four years since my family and I strung together the first little shop, I am forever thankful for that moment of bravery. That small step that changed everything. Not just for me, but for a handful of other towns that are about to take that same first step.
Four beautifully broken years building what I wished existed.
While my work looks drastically different from that day not so long ago, I sit in wonder about how far that little shop reached in the short days its doors were open. Hopeful the stars will realign and put us where we are meant to be soon. Until then, building for other towns like the one that started it all.
