This Friday is National Food Bank Day.
I keep coming back to one simple idea. No one should go to bed hungry.
Hunger is closer than we think. It can be the neighbor down the street or the coworker in the next room. Across the country, food banks help feed 42 million people who struggle to put food on the table. Illness. Job loss. A sudden change in circumstances. It can happen to any of us.
I have spent much of my professional life working in the wellness community and in children's health, so this cause is important to me. Feeding people is one of the most direct ways we care for each other.
Here is how you can help this week. Donate to a local food bank. Volunteer a few hours. Drop off nonperishable food or give cash, which stretches further than most people realize. Check your food bank's needs list for the fresh items they want most.
Small acts add up. Let's take care of our neighbors.
