Here are the small shifts I make for a calmer month. Maybe a few will work for you too.

I love my early mornings. The house is quiet and peaceful. I sip my coffee and play my NYT games to wake up my brain. I eat a good breakfast and take a shower before I open my email or read the news.

I set my phone to Do Not Disturb from 9 pm to 7 am. No notifications pulling me toward something that can wait until morning.

I walk my dog Moose three times a day. I get outside, I move, and I try to stay in the moment the way he always does.

I set a timer for every 30 minutes when I work at the computer. When it goes off, I stand up, drink water, and take a few slow breaths. It clears my head, and I get more done.

I write in my gratitude journal every day. I tell the people I engage with how much I appreciate them. When something good happens, I add it to a list in my phone called "Good things are always happening to me."

All of it makes me smile. All of it helps.
