A little Halloween window treatment horror story. 🎃 Drapery that's too short, hardware hung too low, or a bedroom with no way to block the morning sun.

Now THAT'S spooky!

We love layering custom drapery over shades, especially in bedrooms. You get the softness and style of drapery with the added privacy and light control of a shade. And when everything is measured and installed properly, it looks as good as it works.

No window treatment nightmares here!

One of the things we love most about motorized shades? How much easier they make everyday life, especially for Denver families.

No dangling operating cords, easy light control, and the ability to schedule shades around your routine. It’s one of those little upgrades you really appreciate once you have it.

And right now, Hunter Douglas is offering FREE PowerView Automation on select Provenance Woven Wood Shades and Aria Soft Blinds through December 31, 2026.

If motorization has been on your wish list, our Denver window treatment stylists would love to help you explore the options. Link in bio.

October is National Women’s Small Business Month, and we’re proud to be part of Denver’s small business community.

We’re Lindsay and Heather, the sisters behind Windows Dressed Up. Since taking over the business in 2018, we’ve loved building on a company that’s been dressing Colorado windows since 1958.

We’re always learning, finding new products and ideas, and looking for ways to make custom window treatments even better for our clients and interior design partners.

We feel pretty lucky to do what we love, right here in Denver.

Window treatments don't have to be overly complicated to make a big difference in your home. Sometimes a simple custom café curtain is exactly what a space needs.

A little softness, some privacy, and plenty of natural light.

At Windows Dressed Up, we love helping Denver homeowners find custom window treatments that fit their home, style, and budget, making their house feel more like home.

Do you love the idea of telling Alexa to open the shades, or having your bedroom shades rise automatically in the morning, but assume motorized window treatments require complicated wiring, a sophisticated smart home system, or a luxury-sized budget?

Don't worry, they don’t.

We're busting all the motorization myths this month 👉 windowsdressedup.com/motorized-window-treatments-denver-myths/

Sustainability can mean a lot of different things in home design. At Windows Dressed Up, one of the first things we think about is how long something will last in your home.

A well-made Roman shade, custom drapery panel, or shutter should fit the window correctly, function the way you need it to, and still look good years from now.

Here in Colorado, window treatments can also help manage intense sun and heat, add insulation during colder months, and protect interiors from UV exposure.

If you’re trying to make more sustainable choices at home, start with your windows. Read the blog to learn more ➡️ windowsdressedup.com/sustainable-window-treatments-beautiful-choices-that-are-better-for-your-home/

We’re seeing a little shift happening in interiors lately, and we’re here for it.

The clean, minimalist look isn’t going anywhere, but our clients want their homes to feel warmer and a little more collected.

One place we’re seeing it? Drapery hardware.

Old gold, antique brass, and bronze finishes are coming back into the conversation. They work beautifully with fabric and texture, bringing character to a room without making it feel overly formal.

It feels like we’re moving away from choosing something simply because it looks “clean” and asking a better question: Does this make the room feel good to live in?

Want the function of a shade with a softer, more designer look?

Roman shades are one of our favorite ways to bring fabric to a window without the fullness of drapery. When raised, the fabric folds neatly above the window. Lower it, and you have the privacy and light control you expect from a shade.

The fabric is where Roman shades get interesting. A pattern can become part of the room, like the floral shown here, while a linen or textured neutral can add softness without drawing as much attention.

They’re also easy to motorize, which is especially useful for wide windows, hard-to-reach locations, or simply making daily adjustments easier.

For this bedroom, a collaboration with the talented design team at Studio Lambiotte, the gives the window a finished, bespoke look while still doing its job every day.
