Looks like we won’t get a new factory tour for two years but the good news is Wangs Factory is getting a big upgrade. Business has been growing rapidly and I’m very proud to be a part of this project.

I just ran across an old communication I had way back in Aug 2014 from manufacturing. They only used ‘Germanium diodes’ in their fx pedals but the rest is accurate for the amplifiers. This was when we were still learning about Biyang/Wangs.
Seems like a lifetime ago.
- The pic is 50w VT-50 12” combo which was The very first amp I got as a test before fully committing my life to the brand and bringing them out of China 🇨🇳 and into the world.

It’s awesome!!
- If I lower the Voltage closer to 110v on my 100w SSS (I haven’t tested my other amps yet, I’m guessing the non-vintage type amps won’t react the same) my SSS gets really rounded and way less sterile. More SAG for sure. The magic happens, it’s not snake oil!!
But !!! and it’s a big but…. my FX pedals definitely like it closer to 120v for sure. The amp gets better but the FX get weaker so I’m gonna have to run my pedalboard at 120v and my SSS under 114v
But dude, it definitely works and brings out a nice harmonically richer tone and organic feel in my SSS.
More SAG, more rounded, less stiff texture and feels more organic under the fingers.

Now I gotta test all my amps !!! Can’t wait to test my 100w ODS

MY STUDIO IS RUINED !!!!!

- For over a decade my Wangs Amps Demo studio has had voltage readings fluctuating between 114v-118v (The amps definitely bloom best at 114v-116v) So I had a near perfectly controlled environment for Demoing Wangs vintage style amplifiers.
- But now, out of nowhere, the electric company has sent a steady 121v death grip to my property essentially making my amps the most sterile cardboard through styrofoam sound I’ve ever dealt with. Especially my handwired Marshall and D-Style ODS & SSS.

- Soooo…They upgraded the grid without ever even considering us Vintage Tube Amp Guys. Now I have to buy a bunch of $400 Brown Boxes costing me thousands of dollars 💸

Thanks a lot !! As****es !!! 🤦‍♂️

(Edit) This post is meant to spark discussion about voltage attenuation and although based in fact some hyperbole was added to my dire emotional distress and over reaction to slight changes in tone & feel because I’m a tube tone snob. 🫡
