Situated in a real centuries-old barn minutes from Routes 80 and 46, you can lose yourself in its well organized stacks and get a kick out of its quirky little rooms and cozy corners. Come for a cuppa and a chat with its knowledgeable and equally quirky staff (they know how to have fun!). From old cookbooks

to fantasy literature, from kids books to out-of-print novels, there’s something there for everyone. Who knows? Maybe you’ll find that old earmarked copy of Catcher in the Rye your mom donated when she turned your old bedroom into an exercise room!

We are incredibly grateful to Scholastic for their generous donation, presented to Janis, our manager, on The Kelly Clarkson Show We’re proud to share that we used a portion of this gift to make the Thrift Barns a safer place for the people who mean so much to us — our dedicated volunteers and our wonderful customers. Having this lifesaving device on site gives us peace of mind knowing we’re better prepared to care for our community should an emergency ever arise.

Thank you, Scholastic, for your incredible generosity and for helping us turn your gift into something that protects and supports the people who walk through our doors. This means more than we can say.

🐾 Teagan Update! 🐾

Look how much Teagan our Seeing Eye dog has grown! We’re so proud to share an update on her progress and are so lucky to proudly sponsor her on his journey.

Teagan is now 18 weeks old, fully vaccinated and has been hard at work developing important skills. She recently attended a family graduation, local fair, and even a recent shopping trip to Home Depot! Every new experience helps build the confidence and focus she’ll need for her important future role.

It’s amazing to watch her progress, and we’re honored to be part of her journey. Keep up the great work, Teagan and we can’t wait to see what you go on to achieve.🐶

A huge congratulations to Ragen and Charles on their upcoming wedding! They’re getting married at the stunning George Peabody Library at Johns Hopkins University, so what better way to celebrate than by filling their reception with stacks of books from The Book Barn for their table centerpieces!

We loved helping them find the perfect books for their special day… and after this trip, they’re sending Mom back for even more! 📖

The Book Barn will be closed Wednesday, August 19th through Saturday, August 29th as our amazing volunteers work behind the scenes to restock shelves, reorganize donations, and complete important maintenance around the barn.

🚫 Please note: We will not be accepting donations during this closure. We kindly ask that donations are not left outside our donation doors.

We’ll reopen on Wednesday, September 2nd, with freshly stocked shelves and plenty of new treasures waiting to be discovered!

Congratulations to another one of our Book Barn Summer Reading Challenge finishers!

This incredible 2nd grader doesn’t just love reading, she’s already written her very own book! 📖✍️ Her imagination, creativity, and passion for stories are truly inspiring.

As a reward for completing the challenge, she took home her very own curated Pokémon card prize!

Stories like hers remind us why we love encouraging young readers. Who knows? Maybe one day we’ll see her book on our shelves!

There’s still time to join the Book Barn Summer Reading Challenge! Stop by to pick up a reading log, complete it, and return it before August 15 to claim your prize. If Pokémon isn’t your thing, you can choose a book instead! (Reader must be present to collect. While supplies last.)
