A little pause in the middle of a busy Friday.

I looked up from roasting and bagging coffee for tomorrow’s market and spotted this mama and her fawn just outside the shop window. One of those quiet reminders to slow down for a moment and appreciate where we get to do this work.

Now, back to the roaster! We’ll see you tomorrow at the Downtown Des Moines Farmers’ Market with plenty of freshly roasted coffee, hot coffee and cold brew.

No gimmicks. Just great coffee—and a pretty wonderful view from the shop.

After a week of rain and storms, today feels like a gift — bright skies, fresh air, and a perfect reason to brew something special.

We’re excited to share our new El Salvador Honey Processed coffee, a smooth and easy-drinking cup with soft caramel, honey sweetness, and a gentle fruit finish. It’s one of those coffees that feels warm, balanced, and quietly beautiful.

We’ll have it available tomorrow at the Saturday Farmers Market, along with our fresh-roasted lineup.

New Limited Release: Papua New Guinea Arufa Natural AX

We’re excited to add a new coffee to the Bluestem lineup — a naturally processed coffee from the Arufa area of Jiwaka Province, Papua New Guinea.

This one is beautifully expressive, with notes of raspberry, vanilla, toasted sesame, and brown sugar. It has that sweet, fruit-forward character we love in a natural process coffee, but with a smooth, grounded finish that keeps it very drinkable.

Roasted light to light-medium to bring out the fruit, sweetness, and complexity without losing balance.

Available now in limited quantity.
