The midterms are soon upon us and the independent bookstores of District 3 invite you to flex our freedom to READ THE VOTE with us on Thursday, October 22 from 6-8pm at xBk’s Annex.
Beaverdale Books, The Little Book, Nos Books, Reading in Public, Storyhouse Bookpub, and Wandering Raccoon Books along with local authors and leaders for an extravaganza of book recommendations on community issues close to our hearts that are driving us to the polls this November 3.
This is an evening of hope and resistance, celebrating our freedoms to inform our voting through reading. No agenda. Just readers, leaders, and authors sharing a drink and speaking on community issues that matter to us, reminding each other of the stakes for this fall’s primary election and the power of community.
What to expect:
- Casual readings & book talks from favorite books that have moved us to action by booksellers, local authors and local leaders
- Cash bar!
- Information and updates on Des Moines and Iowa issues at stake for the midterms
- Big boisterous book display in Nos
