Can’t wait to create a piece live for the Plein Air art competition on Thursday! Come watch me do a piece in person at the Iowa State Fair and vote at the cultural center all week long! :)

The terrariums we’re using for tonight’s class came from one of my very favorite places Clarksfurniture — these glass terrariums might be anywhere from $5-10 thrifted and up to $40-50 new. 🤯

Art supplies are not inherently better because they’re brand new. A broken crayon still colors JUST fine and when you’re creative on a budget, thrifting or hitting up creative reuse stores like Partial Arts by Repurpose Rising can really bolster the budget when looking for supplies!

At least half of what we use at the factory is thrifted or upcycled or donated from our amazing patrons and I’m constantly out looking for new supplies for workshops and stations! And we gladly take new donations of anything crafty or creative.

You may have to be a little more flexible and if you have to buy something new it’s FINE! But in this economy? Aim for reuse when you can! 😍

August workshops will be going up this weekend! Keep an eye out to make sure you get a spot in whatever classes you’re obsessed with! Don’t forget we still have another 10 workshops this month as well!!
