60 days from today we begin our next chapter - we will start packing up the Highland Park shop with love and care and say thank you for everything that this magical space has given to us over the years. We will shed some tears (knowing me, lots and lots of tears).

Change is hard, but it’s also incredibly beautiful. So grateful to have y’all on this journey with us!!! Let the countdown to our move over to to Ingersoll begin!!!♥️

Good Morning Friends! It’s been an emotional weekend for me to say the least, thank you sooo much for all of the love♥️

From pop-up shops to what will soon be our third brick and mortar, I absolutely cannot believe that today officially marks SEVEN YEARS?!? Soo much change has happened personally, professionally, and throughout the state, country, and world since the day the shop door opened for business on Friday, September 13, 2019. Many of these changes sure as hell have not made sustainable living any easier, and yet we are all still here, together, making small decisions that continue to make our little corners of the world a little better every single day.

When I was dreaming of what I envisioned the shop to be, one of my main goals was that I wanted to provide a space that folks would feel confident spending their money in… somewhere that stood for something. So I promised myself that I would do the work behind the scenes to ensure that every product that lines the shelves is made with quality ingredients by makers who give a damn about the planet and the people and animals living on it. Seven years later, I feel confident that that ethos stands true.

Sustainability isn’t always convenient - I mean let’s be honest, most days it is quite inconvenient, especially when you are getting your goods with a small local business. The simple truth is that small local businesses like mine know we can’t compete with corporate conglomerates… our prices are higher, our shipping takes longer, and our locations are often a little out of the way. But let me just say that every single purchase you make, down to the dollar, makes a difference to us.

Seven years isn’t just something that I should be celebrating, but each and every one of you should be too because this small sustainable shop we all love would not still be here without all of you giving a damn about the impact you’re having on our planet🫶🏼 WE’VE DONE THIS TOGETHER!

I’ve got big plans for the future of the shop as we make the move over to Ingersoll in just a couple months and I hope that you are all as excited as I am! ♥️

Welcome to our beautiful new storefront located at the Goldfinch Lofts on the corner of 35th + Ingersoll. City permits have been filed, furniture has been ordered, and construction crews are ready to rock and roll as soon as they can!!!! I cannot wait to watch this space take shape over the next few months so we can fill it with the most incredible sustainable goods!!!! 🌎♻️

In the spring of 2021, I made an offer on a house in Highland Park knowing that I wanted to move my shop to the neighborhood within the next year because a beautiful historic building on the corner of 6th and Euclid was in the very early stages of being renovated and it was exactly what I envisioned for the next chapter of the shop.

Highland Park has truly been a magical space to grow and learn as a small business owner and build a deep tie to all of you - the incredible community that has supported the shop through lots of change over the years! Some of my Highland Park customers have become my closest friends and chosen family. It has truly been such a special place to grow my business over the past 4+ years. And don’t worry, you’ll still see me bopping around the neighborhood long after my physical storefront relocates. Highland Park is my home and will forever hold a piece of my heart ❤️‍🩹

We began this journey with a BIG dream in a SMALL space - you’ll hear me call it “the little shop”.

After a few months of pop-up shops at some of my favorite small businesses, I knew that a sustainable living shop was needed and that opening a small storefront in Des Moines would be very well received.

I was still working full time at a local non-profit as their event planner when I took the risk of opening the shop. However, the risk was minimized greatly because the first location was a work/live loft downtown - I lived upstairs with my sweet cat Sophie (some of yall had the privilege of meeting her❤️‍🩹) and the business operated in about 340 sq ft on the main level of our two story loft. I had a curtain to separate the shop from my kitchen/bathroom and all of my personal living belongings (which I severely downsized to make it all work) were tucked away upstairs.

I knew after about six weeks that if I was smart with my finances and kept growing the shop slowly that I would be able to go all in as a small business owner and leave my life in events for good. Fast forward to the end of February 2020 - I took a week off for some travel and then kicked off March as a full time small business owner… two weeks later the world shut down due to the pandemic. I still remember getting a call from my old boss asking me if I would consider coming back to work for them, while I appreciated the kind offer I said no thank you, I’m going to make this work. And I did - because of all of you!!
