Memorial Day is a day to honor members of the military who were killed in service, both during deployments overseas or in training and service in the U.S. Across the country, Americans spend the day visiting cemeteries, attending Memorial Day events and otherwise honoring those who lost their lives in service to the country.

Because Memorial Day is a somber day to honor those who died in service to the country, saying “Happy Memorial Day” is considered bad taste. For those who have lost family or friends through military service, the day is far from happy. If you feel the need to say something, try “Have a meaningful Memorial Day.”

Glad I was taught by Catholic nuns who instilled in children the meaning of all the American special patriotic days.

I am working to clean up information on FB, Google and Microsoft. I think everyone knows I closed down the Army Navy store last October. I still sell dog tag machines, engraving machines and all the supplies. I no longer have the store. I still do have some surplus items. So you are welcome to call 815-568-4115 and inquire. Unfortunately, the tech idiots will not update information in an intelligent fashion. I am beginning to wonder if IT is an abbreviation for idiot. I am not referring to the people who work in the industry just the dopes who run it.

I enjoyed my time in Marengo and the people but I had to move on. I still do trophies for MCHS to help out the kids.

Sorry for any inconvenience for those who are still getting misinformation from Google, Microsoft, etc.

Moving to a location in Des Plaines. Everything will be the same - just no retail sales. I'm still kicking and screaming. Hard to keep an old hillbilly down.****

The Pentagon said Monday that the three service members killed in an Iranian-backed militia drone attack on their living quarters at a small logistics base in Jordan on Sunday were Army Reserve soldiers from the same unit.

The soldiers who lost their lives were Sgt. William Rivers, 46; Spc. Kennedy Sanders, 24; and Spc. Breonna Moffett, 23. They were assigned to the 718 Engineer Company, an Army Reserve unit based out of Fort Moore, Georgia, according to Sabrina Singh, a Pentagon spokeswoman, who briefed reporters on the incident Monday.

God bless all three. I pray that Almighty God will bless and comfort their loved ones. Too bad we no longer have leaders like "Old Hickory" President Andrew Jackson. He would have already solved the problem. No more Iran. End of problem.
