It’s a lil veggie party and fun fact: you’re invited! Join us for an intimate afternoon celebrating “Veg Everything” by Tanya Sichynsky & NYT Cooking in a moderated discussion alongside 3x James Beard Award Semifinalist for Best Chef: Great Lakes, Michael Ransom , of Ima, SuperCrisp, Ima Izakaya, and Summertown Fresh Bar.

Bringing together the worlds of food writing, restaurants, cookbooks, and culinary storytelling, the afternoon will explore how recipes become stories, how personal experiences shape the way we cook and write about food, and how food can create connection and community.

Rather than a traditional author talk, Tanya will be joined by Chef for a lively, moderated conversation that brings together their different perspectives on food, creativity, writing, and hospitality.

The afternoon will include:
- A moderated conversation with Tanya Sichynsky and Chef Mike Ransom
- Audience Q&A
- A special tasting moment inspired by the conversation
- An opportunity to meet Tanya and have her book signed IRL
- A curated selection of cookbooks available for purchase at Vesper
- W**e, cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages available for purchase throughout the event

Come early to browse Vesper’s robust cookbook collection, grab a glass of w**e, and settle in for an afternoon centered around food, books, and conversation.

Every Saturday we pull a bottle or two from retail to pour by the glass. Next weekend will be pouring it on the patio.

The w**es of Pivnica Čajkov are truly special. With the w**ery dating back to the 17th century, Marek Uhanák’s w**es are a true testament to generational family w**e making. The w**ery is located on the southern slopes of the Štiavnica Mountains beneath the Sitno startovolcano. Volcanic soils and honest terroir driven w**es. We’re limited but so excited to share them with you. Come grab a couple bottles while they’re here.

Vesper Service is a cookbook club where we get to show and tell recipes, potluck style, from a selected cookbook.

We took the summer off, but we’re back, baby, we’re back!

Sunday, September 20th 3-5pm: cooking through “Eating at Home” by Trinity Mouzon Wofford

Sunday, October 18th 3-5pm: cooking through “Moosewood Cookbook” by Mollie Katzen

Sunday, November 15th 3-5pm: cooking through Alison Roman’s full send of work

How does Vesper Service work?
- Each “service” we select a cookbook to celebrate, ideally that’s been in rotation long enough to remain accessible to folx within our community.
- Purchase (we offer 15% off at Vesper Books and W**e if you purchase a ticket) or borrow the book from a friend or your local library.
- Cook through one recipe in the typical serving size to bring to share.
- Together, we will each discuss why we chose what we made and any modifications made to the recipe.
- Feast and connect with other like-minded folks from our community.
- Once we’re finished, all unclaimed leftovers will be portioned out and donated to one of the many Detroit Community Fridges.
