Have you ever heard of the Mana Meal Community Soup Kitchen? I hadn’t until this group of delightful women came through the door. Of course I asked about their tshirts. They had just come off their regular Friday volunteer gig. One of them has been volunteering every Friday for 40 years, another for 30. Mind blowing and inspiring. The soup kitchen is housed within St Peter’s Episcopal Church in Corktown. The programming at this church is phenomenal. Check out their website!

It honestly was such a gift to have these strong women in the shop and fun to see them enjoying their shopping excursion. I thanked them for filling up the shop with their warm energy and for filling their shopping baskets ❤️

September is off to a lovely start which is perfect since September is a special month at Urbanum. In fact, this month we are celebrating 8 years of business!!

Yesterday’s happenings at the shop embodied what Urbanum is all about . Sandy (aka Sandra J. Mccoy ) had a visit from Urbanum VIP customer Carole Lewis 😍 Carole’s son brought her by the shop in between doctor’s appointments and lunch on the block. I know, so sweet, right?!!!

This is what keeps a shop like Urbanum ticking and humming - human connection and love. Sounds a little Over The Top but it’s TRUE😊 what’s extra sweet is that while Carole was soaking in the shop newness since her last visit, we had an Urbanum newbie and out of towner (visiting from DC) soaking in Urbanum for the very first time. She stocked up on candles, soap, cookbooks, decorating books, jewelry (which she wore out the store 🤩)

I hope so many of you will also make a special trip to Urbanum this month 😀We’ll be kicking off our anniversary celebrations Thursday Sept 17th so stay tuned!!

It’s business as usual this weekend at Urbanum 😊 We’re closed Labor Day but we’re always closed on Monday!! Come check out the new taper candles at the shop. They are clean burning and made of bees wax. The colors are gorgeous. The price point is great. We’ve been looking for a rock solid taper to carry at the shop. Hope we got it right!

The dwindling days of summer don’t need to be dreaded when you have gorgeous fall decor awaiting from East End Press 🍁

East End Press is a company based in Glasgow, Scotland. I first came across their goods while visiting Cape Cod last winter right before Christmas and my sister had her home decorated with garlands and honeycomb trees. I was smitten!!! Of course, I felt an instant connection to the goods because my parents are both from Glasgow and it is my favorite place on Earth to visit with the most amazing art scene and people. East End press captures Glasgow’s vibrancy perfectly!!

So the question is, where will you hang your garland? 🤩

Shop is open for the final weekend in August.
