Greetings, I'm back. Just looked thru my pages and say... I did have fun WHEN THE CHICKEN COOP shop was open and operational. As you can see the shop closed and we made a cute rental cotage.
Spring is here once again. Have you ordered your garden seeds? We will be adding several asparagus plants to our existing patch which is about 10 years old. Concluded the tomato plants will need to be located in a different spot. Too many years in the same spot does not give proper results. We did not have enough to can last season. Saved back 2 qts (2017) for something special. Don discovered why I like spaghetti squash..it is so good..the kids like it as well so we will do a large patch. I wintered over 2 and will use them for seed. You don't get too many seeds in those envelopes. At least not like I remember.
This is a shot of last year's garden after several days of weeding. Don't you just enjoy those early mornings before the sun gets too hot...the air smells so clean. I've learned not to get too anxious and plant too early..the rains come. We'll see how it goes. Good luck.

THE CHICKEN COOP still has sugar pie pumpkins available. Several ladies have reported Festail brand canned pumkin is no longer available. My Mom used it all the time. Most recipes call for baking in the oven--I've been peeling and steaming on the range top. So much faster. Yesterday I was too busy to watch over the pot and used the crock pot with a bit of water instead. This is the only way. So easy to mash. I've been making this pie since 2002. I did not use the maple syrup. You could probably substitute canned evaporated milk. Stop by for your pie pumkin and I'll share a pumkin bread recipe; that is if it turns out...making it for the first time today.
