Choosing the right working time, controlling the water temperature and mixing only what can be applied before the compound sets can help reduce waste, sanding and unnecessary cleanup.

Not all joint compound is the same.

🔹𝗗𝗿𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴-𝗧𝘆𝗽𝗲 (𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆-𝗠𝗶𝘅): Dries by air evaporation, offers a longer working time, and is ideal for finish coats, skim coating, and achieving a smooth surface.
🔹 𝗦𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴-𝗧𝘆𝗽𝗲 ("𝗛𝗼𝘁 𝗠𝘂𝗱"): Hardens through a chemical reaction—not air drying—making it perfect for embedding tape, deep repairs, and projects that need to move quickly.
🔹 𝗣𝗿𝗼 𝗧𝗶𝗽: Setting-type compounds come in timed formulas (20, 45, 90, and more). The number indicates the 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘅𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻𝘀 to set, not the total drying or curing time.
