Just wanted to take a moment to share my thanks for all who shopped with us Saturday in Florala! It was my first time ever visiting the town, and I was in awe at what a little treasure of a place it was! Everyone we spoke to was super nice and down to earth. After leaving there, Iβm already planning a trip to come back and enjoy that lake and all this little gem of a town has to offer. Itβs beautiful, and so are the people! If ever in Florala, be sure to stop in and visit 2 Gals & A Goat, I promise you will enjoy any and every product in there! Goin on year 5 of using nothing but their goat soap, and Iβm not sure I can live without it at this point! Thanks again for having us, it was such a great experience! Florala is a vibe! β₯οΈ
Right on the Alabama and Florida line, in the little town of Florala, sits a small state park built around something unusual for Alabama, a natural lake. Florala State Park hugs the shore of Lake Jackson, a spring fed body of water that the town literally straddles a state line to share.
Most of Alabama's big lakes are man made reservoirs, but Lake Jackson is a genuine natural lake, clear and spring fed, part in Alabama and part in Florida. The state park on the Alabama side offers a sandy swimming beach, a pier, picnic pavilions and camping, all shaded by tall pines. Generations of families from the surrounding Wiregrass and panhandle communities have cooled off here on summer days.
The town of Florala grew up around the lake, its name a blend of Florida and Alabama, and the water has always been at the center of its identity.
Florala State Park is a rare Alabama treasure, a real natural lake right at the bottom of the state, where clear spring fed water and a sandy beach make for a classic small town summer.
