Today was a tough one. After 16 years, Cabin Antiques is closed, emptied and floors have been washed for the final time.
This sweet, little red cabin was the reason we bought the property. I fell in love with it long before Marge Richcreek’s sons built the beautiful adjoining home. I always thought it would be the perfect spot for my growing collection of antiques.
During the early years, we used to sit on the porch Saturday and Sunday mornings, sipping coffee and talking. I loved how we started our weekend mornings, waiting for the first customer to arrive. Through the day, I enjoyed working in the garden, while the cabin was open, trimming bushes, weeding and deadheading flowers.
We always intended to carve our initials in the porch support posts. But life got in the way and, before I knew it, we lost our opportunity.
Today, after the last items were loaded up, and floors vacuumed and washed, I carved our initials. We may not be able to grow old together there on the porch, but our initials will now stand the test of time.
We were together and that’s all that counts. ❤️
