I received a (very kind) message requesting to release the prompts quicker because the author of the note didn’t have time to devote to writing daily. What a great point! Most of us don’t have the time or bandwidth, so to honor a writer knowing her boundaries and limits, here are the next 3 writing prompts!

As the days grow shorter and a chill settles in the air, there’s a special kind of magic that descends upon the world. Winter brings with it a sense of stillness and reflection, a time when the world seems to hold its breath under a blanket of snow.

For me, winter has always been a season of contrasts. It’s a time of quiet introspection, where the hustle and bustle of the year fade into the background, allowing space for new ideas to take root. The crisp air invigorates my senses, filling me with a renewed sense of creativity and inspiration.

I created a collection of writing prompts to invite you into the embrace of the spirit of winter. To let it infuse your writing with its unique brand of magic. Whether you’re crafting a tale of snowy adventures or delving into the depths of a character’s winter solace, these prompts are designed to spark your imagination and transport you to a world where anything is possible.

So, whether you’re huddled by the fire with a mug of hot cocoa or braving the cold for a snowy adventure, let these prompts ignite your imagination and transport you to a world where winter’s magic knows no bounds.

To follow along with the prompts, just follow this account! Or to join the conversation, use the hashtag . I’ll also be sharing my own responses to the prompts on my author page so be sure to check back for updates and inspiration.

New on the ofthewood.co blog, Gratitude for Writers:

In the often solitary world of writing, authors navigate the vast landscapes of imagination armed only with words. As we delve into the realms of crafting narratives and weaving stories, it becomes increasingly crucial to nurture a mindset of gratitude. This goes beyond a mere courtesy—it's about embracing a grateful perspective that can breathe life into words, invigorate creativity, and sustain us through the peaks and valleys of our literary journeys.

From the nuances of maintaining a gratitude journal to finding inspiration in the mundane, this blog is a roadmap for authors seeking to infuse their writing with the transformative power of gratitude and uncover the hidden gems that gratitude can bring to the art of storytelling. Join me on a Thanksgiving journey into the heart of gratitude, where we explore how this seemingly simple practice can become a writer's most potent ally.

As I stand created this post today, my mind is filled with images—ancient frescoes, faded photographs, and current newsreels—all bearing the same haunting theme: the unjustifiable suffering of innocents in war, particularly women and children. Time and again, history has echoed with the heart-wrenching cries of those who had no part in the disputes of nations, yet bore the heaviest burdens of conflict. Disturbingly, these are not mere echoes of a distant past. Even today, in an era where we pride ourselves on advancement and empathy, these chilling patterns persist.

This post was born out of a profound empathy, a sorrow I felt deep within, not just as an observer, but as a fellow human. My heart, as a part of the vast collective that beats in the chests of humanity, aches for every life affected by the horrors of war. It yearns for a world where the vulnerable are shielded, not exploited. Where children are met with open arms, not closed fists. And where women stand as pillars of strength, not as symbols of conquest.

This isn't just a post from a history major who wants to make a difference. It's a plea, a call to recognize our shared human experience, and a testament to our collective memory.

Something about this time of year makes us want to read about summer-time and live in the comfiness that only nostalgia can provide. If you have that same itch, check out Ghostlight, which not only has summer vibes, but takes place in 2006 so will be very nostalgic for millennials. MySpace anyone?⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
