This was the last post I posted before my recent hiatus. It was March 20- my birthday - and one of the only people who remembered - a friend, mind you - used it as an excuse to come over and steal $40 of my birthday dough.

🎉BUT THIS IS NOT A PITY PARTY!
Join me as I look back and LOL😂🎉
She could have kept me as a friend, a confidant, a partner in crime, had a shoulder to cry on, an ear to bend and a heart to be open to her but instead she chose a quick fix and $40. 🤡
So who do you feel sorry for now?

We need to stop giving people who hurt us room in our homes and room in our heads. We also need to stop giving airtime to the people who hurt our community and our country. That’s literally how they win.

As always, I’m going to expend as much energy as I can celebrating the women who do their best work so that I can do my best work.
I used to say “it’s all about the yarn” but it’s *really* all about the people. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🖤

Today I wanted to say something about taking “inspiration” from other artists and designers. This is obviously from my perspective but I’d love for anyone to weigh in.
🧒🧶❤️
I got my first loom before I even started school. For the next 44 years I pretty much dedicated my life to textiles in one way or another whether it was through education or (endless!) experimentation.
Did I choose a life of “starving artist” or did it choose me?
Should it matter?

As many of you might also know, my work speaks about living with, and healing from depression. (Can you see it now? 📊)

Because I have sacrificed so much for this work and because it’s so personal, I have mixed feelings when it gets “copied”.
I know I’m supposed to be flattered but it really just bums me out.
If you look through my account you’ll see that my work is really all I have... my work and a neurotic dog named Lemmy. 🖤🐶🥰

So when someone takes “inspiration” it’s basically helping themself to what I have literally agonized over for the better part of my life. Should that matter? 🙁🤷‍♀️

❄️Last Winter I was so excited to help promote .landix NEW sock pattern KIA. But after a few false starts, and months without progress, I’ve come to the conclusion that my best knitting days are behind me.

🌸 Luckily I have a friend who never lets my first-day-of Spring birthday go ungifted! (Doesn’t have a knack for pairing patterns with yarn?)

🍁 And now that it’s Fall I finally found the most perfect shoes to wear with what to me are the most perfect socks.

I bet you’d be surprised - because I always am - how many bags I can make from a single skein of 100g yarn.
I recently challenged myself to see what the number would be using the same warp as weft.
In this case the yarn is ‘s oldie but goodie “Crack of Dawn” with my favorite companion . (SWIPE!!)
And no, it’s hardly scientific, and I have plenty of leftover yarn, but I’m up to 9 or 10 bag pieces waiting to be sewn.

You know how when you have the flu food becomes bland and tasteless? You can usually tell you’re on the mend when flavors and spices start working again.
That’s kinda like what being depressed is like. You *see* colors just fine but your brain says “meh”.

I’m so glad the meh-days are behind me and as long as I don’t take on any MORE projects I should be just fine. 🙌

This is irresistible “Margot Tenenbaum” on the right 😍 and its traveling companion “Rodeo Queen” on the left. 🥰

Do you suppose they would look good together? It wasn’t my intention but you never know... 🤷‍♀️😈

Don’t you think this will look fantastic woven? I do!
It’s yarn like this that makes me put my troubles in the past and appreciate the present.
It’s handdyed and millspun from and I love how it looks like handspun.

I rely on other artists (the dyers) to bring out the best in me and it is of utmost importance that I treat their yarn with respect and honor their brands. For the most I already know most of the dyers I work with - in that casual way you get to know people on the internet, through comments and likes.
I don’t actually know yet but I dig her work and I think you will too.
Brooke, I would love to do a low key collab with you - hopefully this yarn but I am open to anything. It is more important that you feel that your work is represented in a way that feels right to *you*. 💚🧡💛
