Founded in 1275, Malmo is Sweden’s third largest city, an easy drive directly across the 10-mile Oresund Bridge (an interesting series called “The Bridge” is based on it) from Copenhagen. We were a little worried about taking Tex over, but there were no checks. He loved it. Lots of great cafes, which he loves, and parks and plazas and statues and castles, all of which he is heavily invested in exploring. The people were so friendly to him too. He can’t wait to go back.

Two days before we were supposed to get to our Airbnb in Denmark, they let us know that there would be construction there all month. We quickly pivoted to this other summer cottage in the countryside about a 10 minute walk from the beach on the west coast of Zealand. It’s been incredible. It reminds me of Cape Cod. The weather is cool. The water is cold. The people are so chill. We’ve been to Copenhagen and Hamlet’s castle (4 castles), Sweden… We came here to beat the heat, and discovered a gem.

We made it to Tangier, Morocco and back to Tarifa, Spain safely. The ferry service wasn’t as bad as all the reviews. Our driver/guide Ahmed didn’t speak much English, but between 3 languages we pieced it together. We met so many kind people at the lighthouse, the cave, the restaurant, and in the crazy maze of the Medina — so much life. It’s chaotic as hell, but somehow it all works. Our ferry back was delayed 2 hours (reviews were right), so we caught the Big Red Bus (City Tours) and got to see even more of town from the glass front of a double decker. So grateful for the most patient and good humored travel companion of all time. And to set foot on Africa for the first time ever! I’m excited to see a lot more of it.

Never had any interest in road bike races, then these guys whipped past at I don’t know a million miles per hour.

The 52nd edition of the Volta ao Algarve begins on Wednesday, February 18th, and runs through February 22nd. The five-stage race features a diverse route designed to test all facets of a rider’s ability, including a 19.5km individual time trial in Vilamoura, two challenging summit finishes at Fóia and Malhão, and opportunities for sprinters on stages concluding in Tavira and Lagos. The race is a crucial early-season test for a field of ambitious cyclists, many of whom are making their 2026 season debuts.

Former champions Jonas Vingegaard and Remco Evenepoel will not participate this year, opening the door for a new generation of riders to vie for the title. The Volta ao Algarve is drawing attention as a key proving ground for contenders preparing for larger campaigns later in the season.
