New to Sawdust Coffee this weekend: a Matcha Swiss Roll Cake! This cake features a matcha sponge filled with vanilla chantilly, and it's dusted with powdered sugar before being topped with more cream. It's for folks who like a light, airy, not-too-sweet dessert. I'm not a fan of matcha, but I really love this cake. Go try one on Saturday!

Announcement time: this year, I am entering the Gingerbread House Competition at the Omni Grove Park Inn & Spa. Public viewing of the entries begins on November 17th at the hotel in Asheville, if you'd like to come see my house! It's a little too early to announce my theme, but I'll be posting tidbits here so you can follow along on my journey. This is the second batch of dough that I've made for testing, and I'm sure it won't be the last. Hours spent so far: 2.

I shared this Tarte Tatin with my parents and Granny Mac today after hearing that they had never had one before. It turned out just as we had hoped - spiced, buttery, and sweet. I used David Lebovitz 's recipe, and I highly recommend it!
