A little light at the end of a very long tunnel. 💡

After months of waiting, setbacks, phone calls, paperwork, insurance, contractors, and a whole lot of uncertainty, we are finally beginning to see a VERY small light at the end of this VERY long tunnel.

I took this picture today to use for an update about the damage to our shop and the repairs ahead. But when I looked at it afterward, I noticed something I hadn’t seen when I took it.

That little spot in the sky looks like an eye.

Maybe it’s just a reflection from the sun. Maybe it’s simply a camera lens doing its thing. But I couldn’t help but think about the One who has been watching over us through every bit of this.

We may not be able to see the whole picture yet, but God can.

He has seen every disappointment. Every delay. Every prayer. Every tear. Every moment we’ve wondered, “How much longer?”

And now, finally, we can see a little light.

It’s not the end of the tunnel yet by far. There’s still lots of work ahead of us. But we’re hopefully moving forward.

And today, that little “eye” in the sky felt like a sweet reminder:

We’re not walking through this alone. God sees us. God is with us. And He is still working. ☀️👁️❤️

More updates on the shop and repairs coming as I find out more. Thank you to everyone who has continued to pray, encourage us, and patiently wait with us. We are so grateful for all of our Framily.

Remember my post about sanding the rocking chairs?

Apparently, Life is still... Lifeing.

After all that sanding and reflecting on the porch, I picked up the wrong paint can when I started painting the second chair.

So now… the chairs don’t match. 🤦‍♀️

Great job, Tif! You had ONE job. 🤣🤣

There’s something happening on my front porch today that I didn’t expect.

I’m sanding an old rocking chair.

I’ve been looking at these chairs for a couple of years now. I even told The CEO that I thought we should just throw them away. Thankfully, he wouldn’t let me. 😂

A couple of weeks ago, I got the idea to sand them down and repaint them. Now, I am NOT crafty, so we’ll see how this little adventure turns out. But today I discovered something that would have been extremely helpful about two hours earlier…

There is a little lock button on the sander.

Yep.

You don’t have to hold the button down the entire time you’re sanding.

My arms would really like to have known that information before I sanded one whole chair and half of another. I’m pretty sure I’ve developed some mild carpal tunnel or at least a strong dislike for power tools. 🤣

But there is something strangely therapeutic about this.

Watching all that old, chipped, ugly paint fall away and seeing the beautiful wood underneath.

The chair hasn’t changed.

The beauty was there all along.

It was just covered up.

And as I sat there sanding, I couldn’t help but think about how much this reminds me of God.

I wish I could take a sander to our shop right now.

I wish I could strip away all the damage, the frustration, the uncertainty and the broken pieces and just make everything beautiful again.

But God hasn’t chosen to do that yet.

And you know what?

That’s okay.

Because this is His story, not mine.

We are still waiting. We are still frustrated. We are still wondering when things are going to be restored. But I believe God is working even when I can’t see what He’s doing.

Just like this rocking chair is going to look completely different when I’m finished with it, I believe this season of our lives is going to look different one day too.

God has a way of taking things that look broken, worn out and forgotten and making something beautiful from them.

And I’ve learned something else while waiting.

God answers prayers.

Sometimes He just answers them in ways you didn’t exactly have in mind. 😂

I have been praying for a very specific thing for quite some time. I asked God to send a companion to someone I love dearly.

And He did.

He sent a dog.

Apparently, I should have been a little more specific in my prayer. 🤣

But honestly, it’s working out pretty well.

All of this has reminded me that God is still God in the waiting.

He is still good when things are messy.

He is still faithful when we don’t understand.

And He can take the chipped, broken, ugly pieces of our lives and make something beautiful out of them.

Sometimes He restores things quickly.

Sometimes He takes His time.

Sometimes He lets us sit on the porch with a sander and learn a lesson from an old rocking chair.

But He never wastes a season.

I’m still waiting for the ugly parts of our shop to be restored and made new.

I’m waiting for God to work.

Frustrated, but learning to be patient.

And while I wait, I’m choosing to trust Him.

I’ve prayed some very specific prayers in my life, and I’ve watched Him answer so many of them. I have stories of answered prayers, unexpected blessings, broken things made new and moments when God showed up exactly when I needed Him.

I really need to write them all down someday.

Because I want my children and grandchildren to know just how good God has been.

I want them to know that He listens.

He hears us.

He loves us.

And He never leaves us or fails us.

So if you’re looking at something in your life right now that feels too broken, too ugly or too far gone to ever be beautiful again, don’t give up.

The Master Restorer is still working.

You may not see the finished product yet.

But that doesn’t mean He isn’t working on it.

And if you don’t know the love of my Jesus, reach out to me. I would love to tell you about Him and the beautiful things He has done in my life.

Because I’ve learned this much:

**God doesn’t just make old things look new.

He makes broken things beautiful.**

And sometimes, the beauty was there all along. ❤️

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have another half-chair to sand and two very tired arms that are beginning to question my life choices. 😂

Seasons 🌷☀️🍂❄️

There are four seasons: spring, summer, fall, and winter. And every one of them has its good days… and its “Lord, are we done with this yet?” days. 😂

Winter can be cold, dark, damp, depressing, and sometimes downright dangerous. But then there’s the beauty of fresh, glistening snow, playing outside with your kids, making memories, and, of course, snow cream! 🍦❄️

Summer can be hot. REALLY hot. Especially if you work outside and feel like you’re slowly becoming part of the pavement. 🥵😂 But then there are lazy days at the lake or pool, weekends with friends, vacations, and long evenings enjoying the sunshine.

Fall is probably my favorite. Give me colorful leaves, chilly evenings, a warm fire, a blanket, and some s’mores, and I’m a happy girl. 🍁🔥

And then there’s spring. New growth. Beautiful flowers. Everything coming back to life. 🌸 But spring can also bring tornadoes and damaging storms.

Every season has beauty. Every season has challenges. Every season eventually changes.

Life is much the same.

We go through seasons of joy and grief, peace and anxiety, celebration and uncertainty, strength and weakness. Sometimes life feels like a constant ebb and flow, and sometimes you find yourself smack in the middle of a season you would very much like to return to sender. 😂

I’m in one of those seasons right now.

I’m not exactly sure what to call it, but I know I’m not a fan. It’s hard. It’s frustrating. There’s a lot of uncertainty, and some days I find myself wondering when this season will finally change.

But I’m reminding myself of something important:

This season will not last forever.

Just as winter eventually gives way to spring, this difficult season will eventually give way to something new.

I may not be able to see what’s coming yet. I may not even recognize the first signs of spring when they begin to appear. But I trust that something beautiful is coming.

And do you know what makes it possible to walk through a hard season with hope?

Jesus. ❤️

He is with us in the winter. He is with us in the storms. He is with us when we don’t understand what He is doing or why He is allowing something to happen.

He is working even when we can’t see it.

And when the season changes, when the flowers bloom and the sun comes out again, He will still be there.

He never leaves.
He never gives up on us.
He never stops being faithful.

So if you’re in a difficult season right now, take heart. You are not stuck there forever. Keep trusting. Keep praying. Keep holding on.

Spring is coming. 🌷

And if you don’t have a relationship with Jesus, I encourage you to seek Him. Get to know Him. Open His Word. Talk to Him.

Because life will have seasons you cannot control, but knowing Who is walking through them with you changes everything. ❤️
