This week our featured artist is Mary Hibberts who is owner of Waterbug Works! Let me introduce her!

Her work is deeply influenced by her background in landscape architecture and design, where she learned that true artistry lies in the balance between form and function. Each piece she creates is a unique exploration of this balance, designed to be both a visual one-of-a-kind and a functional object that enhances daily life. Despite experimenting with various art forms over the years, it is the satisfaction of crafting something useful and captivating that keeps her returning to her favorite expression of creativity.
What is her craft you may ask? Here are her own words:
“I often wish the world around me would stop so I could just create all day every day. I've never been able to stick with just one art form until pottery. I've had phases of creating every type of visual art and wire wrapping jewelry, but pottery is the one form of art that I can’t put down. I find pottery to be messy, mesmerizing and limitless. I think the satisfaction that comes from creating something tangible, beautiful, and functional is what has me hooked. It’s one thing to make something beautiful and it's another to make something functional, but true, good design is both."

Mary evokes a sense of wonder and discovery in those who experience her work. She creates pieces that make people pause, think, and appreciate the blend of artistry and utility. In every creation, she captures a moment of curiosity and brings a touch of wonder and usefulness into the everyday.

Come say hi to Mary and many others tomorrow on the Driggs City plaza 9-3!
