We thought you might like to meet the faRmily who makes our plant dyed yarns, farm-made sustainable goods & gifts, and those who care for our flocks & herds. It's a team effort at Mitchell Wool and we can't wait to introduce everyone to you.

Next in our series of MEET OUR TEAM is Caleb. Yes, we have two!

Caleb and his wife have been volunteering at shearing day for a couple of years now, purely for the love of homesteading and learning something new. When an opening arose in the Barn Crew, Francesco knew immediately who would fit into our team well! Caleb brings a gentle calm and focus to our livestock operations. He repairs things in our barns and assists Francesco building new areas and projects for productivity. He cares for the animals and is a joyful addition to our team! His future goals are to one day own a regenerative farm of their own and raise their own family and flock.

We've got just one bag left of our undyed Romney/Suffolk yarn—10 skeins totaling 840+ yards—and it's ready to become someone's next heirloom project.

Raised by our very own Ann Marie, this special fleece spins into a beautifully saturated brown yarn with a soft, natural halo that only becomes more beautiful with wear and time. It's the kind of yarn that tells a story with every stitch.

Need a little inspiration? We're dreaming of seeing it become the Mila Hooded Vest by .knit or the Carols Vest by Juana Román. Cozy, timeless, and made to be treasured for years to come.

This is the last of its kind, so once it's gone, it's gone.

✨ Available online now—which project would you cast on?

Three years strong, and still a favorite.

The Chiaroscuro Scarf by Alessandra Gropazzi has been stopping knitters in their tracks at fiber festivals for more than three years—and it's easy to see why.

With striking texture and beautiful dimension, this design transforms our plump Rambouillet DK into a true three-dimensional work of art. It's the kind of project that's as enjoyable to knit as it is to wear.

The best part? All it takes is two skeins of our Rambouillet DK to create your own.

Have you knit a Chiaroscuro Scarf yet? We'd love to see your version! 🧶. Yarn for sale on the site in the full rainbow of color options!

Next in our series of MEET OUR TEAM is Kristine

Kristine serendipitously walked into the shop one day and asked if we needed a sewist. Which in fact we had just decided to add that position earlier that week and had not yet posted anything. She sews our Sherry's Sweater Bags, the Penelope Project Bag, our Scout Bags and the Cindy Clutch. She twists and bands skeins, and she is the person who lovingly packs and ships your orders to you. As if that wasn't enough, Kristine hosts our Knit Nites with Ann Marie and she is our resident class instructor. (including ahem, SEWING CLASSES, which will be coming this fall!!!)

Kristine is a delight to work with and a terrific problem solver. She often streamlines our processes and is a favorite host of SIP & STITCH morning makers sessions. A small group setting where you can bring your project for advice. We adore her bubbly attitude and truly enjoy the cheer she brings to the shop!

As per usual, Jessica was right 😘 - go check out the awesome product images for Rambouillet DK on the website. We’ll be shooting the rest of the line this week, in proper footwear.

We truly are different, we are a family farm that happens to own a yarn company. That yarn company is exclusively produced on farm, by us. Aside from the mill in Wisconsin, we’re doing the rest right here in Michigan, on our little farm in our little town. We buy traceable wool from other family farms. And while that’s obvious to us because we’ve been doing it from day one, it is worth noting that’s how we roll.

For flocks sake.
For planets sake.
For communitys sake.
For familys sake.

YARN FOR GOOD starts with the flock.

Xx- Sherry & Intarsia, Charlotte, Gauge, Diane and the rest of the faRmily at Mitchell Wool.

Jessica wanted the yarn images reshot in the pasture to highlight how we are a real sheep farm and create more character than just a white background.

Makes sense right?

Right.

But in practice, the flock had other ideas.

We’re just keepin it real over here on the farm.

Please send bandaids.

Xx- Sherry
