One of my favorite things about floral design is combining color, texture, and line to create a piece that is both beautiful and meaningful.

For this casket spray, I used a soft palette of pink, yellow, and white featuring pink lilies, white snapdragons, stock, carnations, roses, and beautiful Panache Sunflowers. The snapdragons provide strong vertical lines, while the lilies and sunflowers create beautiful focal points. Stock and carnations add texture and fullness, and the different shades of pink, yellow, and white bring harmony and balance throughout the design.

Every flower has a purpose, and every design tells a story. It is always an honor to create these final tributes for families during such an important time.

I have to say… this arrangement smells as good as it looks! 🌻🧡

The Panache sunflowers are one of my favorites. I love their ruffled petals and all the texture they bring to a design. Mixed with fragrant stock, lilies, and garden roses, this bouquet is one you can’t help but stop and admire every time you walk by.

It’s bright, cheerful, and definitely one of those arrangements that makes you smile. 😊

Do you like the classic sunflower or the ruffly Panache sunflower better? 🌻

Before I started designing this, I knew I wanted it to be more than just a beautiful arrangement. It was going to a breast cancer survivor. 🩷
I reached for some beargrass, made one loop… and suddenly it clicked. Before I knew it, I was creating butterfly wings.

People ask me all the time, “How do you know what you’re going to make before you start?”

The truth is… I don’t. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I usually have a color palette or a feeling in mind, but the design itself unfolds as I work. It’s almost like a light bulb turns on, and the flowers begin telling their own story. That’s one of the things I love most about floral design—every piece is unique, and no two are ever exactly alike.

What was the first thing you noticed when you saw this arrangement? The butterfly wings, the pink rose, or all the different textures?

Have you ever stopped to smell the Yarrow? 🌼😍🤗

I picked up some beautiful fresh Yarrow from Billy D’s yesterday, and when I walked into my cooler this morning to start designing, the sweet, earthy fragrance immediately caught my attention. It’s one of those flowers that often gets admired for its texture and clusters of tiny blooms, but its scent is just as wonderful.

Yarrow has been treasured for centuries and has a long history in traditional herbal medicine, making it a flower with both beauty and an interesting story. Today, I love using it for the soft texture, natural movement, and unique character it brings to arrangements. (See reminder below 👇🏼)

Sometimes it’s the little things—like opening the cooler door and being greeted by the fragrance of fresh flowers—that remind me why I love what I do. 💛

Have you ever noticed the scent of Yarrow, or is there another flower whose fragrance always catches your attention?

🌼 Just a friendly reminder: The yarrow in our shop is intended for floral design only. Although yarrow has been used in herbal traditions for centuries, florist-grade flowers may have been treated with products that make them unsuitable for consumption or medicinal use.

I won these beautiful pink rose lilies, and light spirit roses last week at Bill Doran’s annual customer appreciation week.
I never bring home brand new flowers!! I never bring home old flowers, because I liked to donate those.
I decided “youre gonna take these home!!” I’m so glad I did!! My whole house has smelled like Heaven!!! 🤗
Thanks again Shelly for pointing me to these beauties!!! 🫶🏼

My favorite styles to design is contemporary floral art. Contemporary design allows me to focus on the elements and principles of floral design—line, form, texture, balance, rhythm, proportion, and scale—to create a piece that naturally draws your eye through the arrangement.

Notice how the varying heights create movement, the different textures add depth, and the intentional placement of each bloom gives every flower a purpose. Rather than filling every space, contemporary design embraces negative space, allowing each element to stand out while working together as one cohesive composition.

Flowers are more than just beautiful—they’re an art form. I love creating designs that are thoughtfully composed and uniquely person

There’s just something about soft summer colors that never goes out of style. 💐

This feminine color palette is one of my all-time favorites—pretty shades of pink, peach, and blue that come together so beautifully to celebrate a life well lived. While every tribute I create is one of a kind, this color combination has a special place in my heart.

I shared a few more pieces in these same colors, and I hope you’ll scroll through to see how each one has its own unique look while carrying the same gentle, comforting feel.

At DuQuoin Floral Co., I believe flowers tell a story when words are hard to find, and it’s an honor to create something meaningful for our families during those moments.

If you know me, you already know my answer… every color! 🤷🏼‍♀️
Bill Doran Company Herrin had a wonderful selection of lisianthus colors this week, and I just had to share them with you!

These blooms are one of my favorites because they’re elegant, long-lasting, and beautiful in every shade.

Now I need to know… which color is your favorite? 🌸 Swipe through and tell me which one is your favorite... but don't miss the last photo—it might just surprise you!

A dear friend came to me wanting to honor her best friend in a way that felt personal. She told me how much her friend loved dragonflies, so I tucked a couple into the design. I love adding those little details because they turn flowers into something that tells a story.

That’s one of the things I love most about what I do. Every life is different, and I believe the flowers should reflect that. Whether it’s a favorite flower, a special color, or a meaningful symbol like a dragonfly, those personal touches make all the difference.

Thank you to everyone who trusts me with these moments. It’s an honor to help create something that celebrates a life so beautifully. 💜
