We paired it with the EG117 from TYPE-A Rifle Co to see if the "Low Back Pressure" hype holds up on a handgun platform.

Choosing a concealed carry pistol means balancing a lot of variables—caliber, size, action, capacity, and more.

Slimline compacts like the Sig Sauer P365 FUSE and G***k 48 offer higher muzzle velocity, a longer sight radius for improved accuracy with iron sights, and a softer recoil impulse when compared to smaller-frame carry guns, helping with faster and more controlled follow-up shots.

We’ve had the chance to run both the Venom and the new Defender ST, and while they share Vortex’s clear glass, clean emitter, and industry-leading unconditional lifetime warranty, there are some key differences worth noting:

The G***k 45 shares a silhouette with the 19X but adds user-friendly features: a flared magwell for faster reloads, forward slide serrations for manipulations, and out of the box compatibility with Gen-5 magazines thanks to the removed lanyard loop. Both are excellent platforms, however, unless you really love the two-tone FDE finish of the 19x, the 45 is probably the better choice for civilian ownership.
