Another epic trip in the books with Mike Iaconelli practicing for the BASS Elite Series event coming up in Guntersville, Alabama !
We started off with ice in some of the coves, which i didn't even know happened much in Alabama . Lol
We fished from sunrise to sundown for 4 straight days with freezing cold temperatures . Thursday it rained all day long and the wind picked up as a big front approached the whole east coast !
I looked at my phone and showed Mike the radar and we did 80 mph back to the ramp . We got the boat on the trailer in the nick of time before all hell broke loose in the dark of course lol.
We had a good mix of fishing and scouting the lake and each day we wree able to catch some nice fish .
The amount of work it takes to be one of the elites is unfathomable to most fisherman including myslef . Before Mike invited me along to practice for thsoe events I had no idea what it takes to compete at that level .
To say it is a learning experience os an understatement.
Ive learned so much about mapping , 2D sonar ' down scan ' sife scan, Google Earth even breaking out old school paper maps at night and looking at them for tomorrow over couple cold Sierra Nevadas lol . The learning just never stops when you are with him . We even watched old videos of events at Guntersville that he was in while looking at maps ! Lol
Hes even won here in the past and had a couple top 20 finishes as well I believe and still learning !
Going out into the towns are fun for me ro explore BBQ joints and sample so local beers !
The last time ive even been to Alabama was in 1990s seeing the Grateful Dead !
