What’s more sustainable than shopping secondhand? Shopping secondhand locally. 🤎

I loveeee finding really special vintage pieces and giving them another chance to be worn. And not everything has to come in a box or be shipped across the country. You can shop a whole rack of my stylist picks right here in St. Petersburg at Coastal House Vintage.

Right now I’m especially hunting for those fall pieces with personality: vintage leather, handknit cardigans, ’90s flannels, and maxi dresses.

Flashback Friday ✨ Vintage Victoria’s Secret

One of those labels that I will thrift no matter what season? Vintage Victoria’s Secret. Especially the romantic pieces from the ’90s into Y2K. Slips, lace, satin, sheer layers, dramatic sleeves, and little floral prints. I scoop them up whenever I find one. Because often than not, it will be cotton, silk or a combination of the two.

And I always check the tag. 👀 Older Victoria’s Secret isn’t identified by one single label, so I look at the tag in the garment. Collectors generally associate the gold-lettered woven labels with older VS, while the white “open heart” style appears by the mid-’90s. Early-2000s pieces increasingly have the longer modern care tags and can sometimes include date information.

Stylist Picks Wednesday | Vintage Lingerie ✨

Lingerie is having its moment again in everyday wear, but some of my favorite pieces from the era are the ones that feel a little less obvious. Romantic slip-style tops, silky floral button-downs and bold psychedelic prints.

Flashback Friday | Neo Nostalgia ✨

Sometimes I thrift a brand once and move on. And sometimes I see a label and immediately know I’m taking it back home.

Neo Nostalgia is one of those ’90s brands for me.

The label is known on the vintage market for its tapestry jackets, Southwestern patterns, cropped silhouettes and bohemian pieces. I especially keep my eye out for the jackets every fall. They’re substantial enough to be a statement piece, but they’re SO easy to completely change depending on how you style them.

A few years ago, I styled Melissa in a similar vintage tapestry jacket with a black corset and oversized bottoms, taking something very ‘90s and giving it a much edgier feel. And last week at the thrift, I found another one! 🙌

And yes, it’s now up in our Depop.

And the coincidental part? “Neo Nostalgia” is actually a fashion trend again circulating TikTok. Mixing pieces from the ’90s and Y2K into something completely personal is having a moment, which is basically what I’ve been doing with vintage pieces like this all along.

Sustainable Sunday ♻ SIX YEARS LATER!

Around this time six years ago, I made A Curated Thrift official and launched my store on . I started with a pretty simple belief: there are already so many incredible clothes in the world, we can always create more from what we have already.

Six years later, that still guides how I run this little business from my home studio. I thrift with purpose, curate for the actual person wearing the clothes, and try to keep great pieces circulating for as long as possible.

For me, sustainable fashion has never been about having a perfect closet. It’s about buying less, choosing better, wearing what you love, and giving really good clothes another life.

Six years, thousands of secondhand pieces, and one very tiny celebratory cake later. 🎂🤣

Here’s to the next six. 💚

Flashback Friday: Hats are Back for Fall!

From cowboy hats and peddler-style newsboy caps to structured pillboxes, headwear is becoming the focal point of an outfit again.

Yesterday, I shared the garden party collection I curated for a little girl. This incredible straw hat became the center of her entire look. I found the label Veola Modes, New York inside the hat when I thrifted it.

Veola Modes was a New York millinery label during the golden age of American hat making. From the 1930s through the 1950s appearing in many department-store advertisements.
The colorful fabric-fruit trim dated this piece back to the 1940s, when hats were often decorated with fruit, flowers, ribbons and other details. It’s a tiny piece of wearable art and nearly 80 years later, it’s found a home in a little girl’s dress up closet. 🫶

I paired it with modern secondhand clothing and vintage shoes. Video of the outfit in our stories. ✨
