Prodigy turned his prison recipes into a cookbook because eating poorly was a risk he couldnβt afford.
Living with sickle cell disease made him especially careful about his food. But inside, dozens of men shared just one microwave and one toaster oven.
Using commissary ingredients and techniques learned from another inmate who had been a chef, he started creating his own recipes. Cooking also gave him a little peace and a reason to sit down and share a meal with others.
Those experiences became Commissary Kitchen: My Infamous Prison Cookbook, published in 2016 with co-author Kathy Iandoli.
