Sometimes you meet people through business who somehow cross that invisible line from “customer” to “friend,” and today one of those people absolutely made my day. ❤️

We were returning something we had borrowed from her, and after commenting—again—on how absolutely stunning her home is from the outside, she graciously offered to give us the full tour.

And HOLY. S**T.

I’m not sharing pictures, names, locations, or anything else because this is her private home, but I have to talk about the TALENT.

She designed it herself, and the way she has mixed completely different materials, textures, styles, old, new, unexpected—you name it—and somehow made every single bit of it work together is incredible.

It’s the kind of place where you walk into one room and think, “Okay, THIS is my favorite,” and then you walk into the next one and immediately change your mind.

And then you do it again.

And again. 😂

But beyond how freaking beautiful it is, there was something else about that house.

For the first time in MANY months, I actually felt completely relaxed. I don’t even know how to explain it. There’s just something about the entire place that feels peaceful, comfortable and like you could shut the rest of the world out for a while.

Which brings me to this:

If you happen to walk into your bathroom one day and find me sleeping in there, mind your business. 😂😂 I live there now. We’ll discuss rent later.

There are some seriously talented, creative people right here in our area, and sometimes you don’t even realize it until you get the privilege of seeing what they’ve created.

So, without naming her because I didn’t ask permission to put her business all over Facebook 😂, I just wanted to publicly say THANK YOU for the tour today.

You completely made my day, gave me approximately 847 new ideas, reminded me that I apparently need a MUCH larger decorating budget, and gave my brain a couple hours where it actually shut the hell up for once. ❤️

Now taking applications for a sugar daddy who doesn’t want any sugar. 🤷🏼‍♀️😂

Absolutely freaking stunning. ❤️

UPDATE / CORRECTION — because when I’m wrong, I’ll say I’m wrong.

I need to correct something from my previous post.

The family in Olean did NOT have a house fire. I was completely wrong about that.

They were forced to leave their home because of severe black mold, and they had to leave their belongings behind because the situation was so bad. Even more importantly, one of their children was in the ICU because of it

When I heard that last part, that is what my brain focused on, and somewhere along the way I misunderstood the circumstances and believed I had been told there was a fire.

That was my mistake. Period.

I was just informed that I had the story wrong, and I’m correcting it immediately because I am not going to criticize someone else for being dishonest while allowing incorrect information to sit on my own page.

The important part remains the same: this is a real family dealing with a very real crisis, they had to leave their home and belongings behind, and they need help.

I will still be attaching/sharing the list of items we know they need, and if anyone is able to help them, please do.

And I sincerely apologize for incorrectly saying they lost their home and belongings to a fire. They did not. They were displaced because of black mold.

I screwed that part up. I own it. I corrected it.

Now let’s focus on helping a family that actually needs it. ❤️

**UPDATE THE PEOPLE IN OLEAN DID NOT HAVE A FIRE. SEE NEWEST POST. I WAS SO FOCUSED ON THE JERK THIS POST WAS ABOUT THAT I OBVIOUSLY WAS WRONG. BUT STILL LOOKING FOR DONATIONS FOR THIS POOR FAMILY***

I’m going to say this without names because there are children involved, and none of this is their fault.

But I am LIVID.

At the end of our sale, a gentleman came in looking for free items and told us his family had experienced a house fire. Six kids. Needed to replace basically everything.

So what did we do?

We told him to take whatever he needed.

Then we told him to come back the next day before anyone else so his family could have FIRST PICK of what was left.

He did.

We then told him we had even more stuff in storage and that before we sold or donated any of it, his family could have first pick of that too.

I asked him to talk to his wife and send me a list of what they still needed because I was prepared to keep helping.

No response.

I reached out again.

Still nothing.

Something didn’t sit right, so I started looking.

THE FU***NG HOUSE FIRE WAS THREE AND A HALF YEARS AGO.

Three. And. A. Half. YEARS.

Now, before somebody deliberately misunderstands me: I understand that recovering from a house fire can take a long time. If someone told me, “We had a fire a few years ago and we’re still struggling to replace things,” I probably STILL would have helped.

But that’s not how this was presented to us.

And here’s another thing:

If this guy had walked in and said, “Hey, I’m a reseller. I’m going to take this free stuff and hopefully make a fortune selling it,” I probably would’ve said, “GREAT. MAKE A FU***NG FORTUNE.”

Seriously. I was trying to get rid of stuff. I wouldn’t have cared.

What I care about is feeling like I was LIED TO so that someone could get priority access to things because they knew I would bend over backward to help a family I believed had just lost everything.

That’s the difference.

And people who do that SUCK.

Because while I’m over here trying to figure out what else I can pull from storage to help six kids, apparently there was some pretty important information that wasn’t mentioned.

And here’s the part that really gets me.

We have now found an ACTUAL family dealing with a VERY RECENT house fire who genuinely needs help.

They are located in Olean, and I’ll be attaching a list of the items we currently know they need. If you have anything on that list that you’re willing to donate, PLEASE reach out.

Because despite how pi**ed off I am right now, I refuse to let someone else’s bu****it prevent a family who truly needs help from getting it.

But going forward? Things are changing.

I’m tired.

I’m tired of trying to do good things and finding out afterward that someone wasn’t completely honest with me.

I’m tired of people seeing generosity and apparently mistaking it for stupidity.

And I’m especially tired of having my faith in people kicked in the teeth every damn time I start getting some of it back.

So congratulations.

You finally did it.

I’m done helping people I don’t personally know without verifying the situation first.

I’ll donate to established organizations. I’ll help people whose situations I can verify. I’ll help the people I love. And clearly, when there is a legitimate family in need, I’m still going to do what I can.

But the days of someone walking through my door with a sad story and me immediately trying to move mountains for them?

Those days are fu***ng OVER.

And that’s really sad, because there are genuinely good people out there who need help.

Like the family in Olean we’re trying to help right now.

Unfortunately, they’re the ones who ultimately pay the price when other people take advantage of someone’s kindness.

I’m done learning this lesson.

Kindness is not stupidity. Generosity is not an invitation to bu****it me.

What a fantastic day at the fair. ❤️🎡

We ate some ridiculously good fair food, wandered around, saw all the animals, laughed our asses off and just genuinely had a GREAT day.

I am now absolutely exhausted and pretty sure my feet have officially filed for divorce. 😂 But it was 100% worth it.

And obviously I had to take approximately 847 pictures of the animals… although after looking through them, I’m realizing several of them appear to be looking directly at me like:

“What the f**k are YOU looking at?” 😂😂😂

Honestly, the llama/alpaca and that monkey have seen some s**t. And the emu looks like he’d like to speak to management.

10/10 day. Great food, great company, adorable animals with serious attitude, and most importantly — I took the day to actually enjoy myself. ❤️

Now I’m going home to do absolutely NOTHING.

So apparently I got curious today and decided to play around with the AI inside Meta Business Suite.

And would you LOOK AT THAT. 😂

According to Meta’s own AI, this page is HIGHLY RECOMMENDABLE and has NO RED FLAGS. 🚩❌

I’m sorry… I just need a moment. 😂

Because for a page that has apparently been causing such emotional distress lately, losing a few people who dramatically announced their departures, and collecting the occasional comment about how terrible I am…

META IS OVER THERE LIKE: 10/10, WOULD RECOMMEND. 💀😂

No red flags.
Highly recommendable.
Apparently the algorithm enjoys the chaos.

So to everyone who keeps telling me I’m ruining my page with my mouth, my sarcasm, my opinions and my refusal to kiss anyone’s ass…

The robot disagrees. 🤷‍♀️

And frankly, that might be my favorite review yet.

Welcome to Thrifted, Gifted & Slightly Twisted — where apparently even artificial intelligence understands the assignment. 😂

👀 Just a little heads-up…

Ohhhh boy, do I have some CONTENT coming. And this one is a doozy.

I’m not saying what it’s about yet. I’m not naming anyone. I’m not giving details.

Why? Because I’m giving someone 24 hours to rectify a situation and prove me wrong.

And I sincerely hope they do.

This is not the crap I enjoy waking up to.

Because I would MUCH rather come back here tomorrow and tell you all, “Never mind, there was a perfectly reasonable explanation.”

But let me tell you… this is exactly the kind of s**t I seem to get in return when I try to help people. You try to do something good, expect absolutely nothing in return, and somehow still end up sitting there wondering why the hell you bother.

HOWEVER… I am absolutely not giving this situation my day.

I’m heading to my follow-up from being in the hospital, and after that I’m going to the fair with a good friend and my daughter and hopefully his daughter. I’m going to enjoy myself, eat something ridiculously overpriced, look at all the things, and not stress about someone else’s bu****it for once. 😂

They have 24 hours. What they choose to do with those 24 hours is entirely up to them.

And if there isn’t a perfectly reasonable explanation?

Welp. Buckle up, buttercups. Because this story comes with receipts. 🧾😂

Clock’s ticking. ⏰

We actually did something today that had NOTHING to do with moving, cleaning, sorting, selling, donating, drama, bu****it, or solving somebody else’s problem. 😂

We went Halloween shopping. 🎃👻

Do I want summer to end? Absolutely not.
Am I ridiculously excited for fall and Halloween anyway? Absolutely yes.
Apparently both things can be true.

And yes, that is Charlie. 🐈‍⬛
Yes, she’s a bitch.
Yes, she knows she’s a bitch.
Yes, I used AI to change her picture because apparently I enjoy giving the internet something else to complain about.

Do I care if you like it?

Nope. 😂

The actual point is that today we took some time to do something we genuinely love doing, just because we wanted to. And after the last several weeks, that felt REALLY freaking good.

In other news, we’ve removed most of our eBay listings and will basically be starting fresh with a whole bunch of new stuff… as soon as I can physically reach my workspace, which according to my calculations should be sometime in approximately 3.4 million years.

There are currently enough totes, boxes and random inventory between me and that workspace to qualify as a small mountain range.

But we’ll get there.

For today, I’m calling wandering around looking at Halloween crap, spending time together and doing absolutely nothing productive for a little while a WIN. 🎃

And Charlie remains completely unimpressed with all of us.

As she should be.

It’s always interesting watching the timeline.

First comes the realization that other people may have heard a slightly different version of events.

Then suddenly there’s gratitude. Appreciation. Thank-yous. Recognition for everything everyone did.

And for a brief moment you think, Well damn… maybe some self-reflection actually happened.

Then 24 hours later, we’re right back to the pity party.

“I don’t understand why anyone is upset with me.”

“I didn’t do anything wrong.”

“I just don’t know what happened.”

Ma’am. 😂

At some point, when multiple completely separate people are having the same issue with you, you might want to consider the possibility that everyone else didn’t simultaneously lose their damn minds.

And yet, there are STILL people blindly supporting the version they were handed while calling me names and telling everyone what a horrible person I supposedly am.

That’s okay. Keep going. I’ve been called worse by better. 😂

You can rewrite a Facebook post.

You can clean up a narrative.

You can suddenly become incredibly appreciative once you realize people are comparing notes.

But what you can’t do is erase what already happened just because the audience changed.

And once people start talking to each other instead of only listening to one version of the story?

Well.

That’s usually when things get interesting. ☕️

Meanwhile, I’ll just keep minding my business and watching character development happen in reverse. 😂

🚨 And just like that, someone volunteered to become content.

Everybody say hi to Larry. 👋😂

Larry stopped by to inform me that:

“No one gives a s**t about your looser life.”

Larry.

Buddy.

First things first: LOSER.

One O.

If you’re going to insult me publicly, please proofread. I have standards around here. 😂

But here’s the part I absolutely LOVE:

Apparently no one gives a s**t about my life…

Yet Larry read the post.

Larry had feelings about the post.

Larry opened the comments.

Larry composed a response.

Larry posted the response.

And Larry came back to see my response, because somebody had to give that little laughing reaction. 😂

That’s an awful lot of participation for a man representing the Nobody Gives a S**t Committee.

And THIS is precisely what I warned everyone about when the page changed direction.

You don’t have to like me.

You don’t have to agree with me.

You don’t even have to think I’m funny.

But if you show up on my page, insult me, and hand me comedy material on a silver platter…

I’m probably going to use it.

So congratulations, Larry. 🎉

You wanted to tell everyone how irrelevant my life is.

And now you’re part of it. 😂

Janine here was smart enough to see herself out. 👋😂

No arguing. No dramatic departure announcement. No 14-paragraph dissertation about how my page isn’t for her.

She simply realized, “Huh. This probably isn’t my kind of page,” and LEFT.

👏 WE 👏 NEED 👏 MORE 👏 JANINES. 👏

And here’s the important part: if you do it the right way, I’ll play nice too. Notice I blacked out Janine’s last name. She didn’t come in here being nasty, insulting me, or making ridiculous comments. She just decided this wasn’t for her and moved along.

THAT is how it’s done.

If my sarcasm offends you, my language bothers you, my opinions irritate you, or you find yourself clutching your pearls every time I hit “post”… Janine has demonstrated the proper procedure.

No need to announce your departure.
No need to tell me I’ve lost a customer.
No need to explain why you’re unfollowing.
No need to leave one final stupid comment for attention.

Because here’s the deal: leave respectfully and I’ll respect you right back. Come into my comments acting like an as***le first? Well… you’ve already been warned that comments may become content. 🤷‍♀️😂

Just quietly locate that little unfollow button and Janine yourself right on out of here.

Godspeed, Janine. 🫡

You may have left us, but your legacy lives on.

Be like Janine.
