Feels good to be back home and back in the lab. Got back to TX last week and have been working hard on getting boards pressed before turning the site back on. Also, started working on some plies for an upcoming Ůreth Recycled Wheels collab that has been in the works for nearly a year now. More info to come on the collab and the shop will be opening soon once I have enough boards pressed up in preparation. Missed you all and excited to be back.

I can’t believe it’s been 6 years since Doom Lagoon was born. I’ve been making fingerboards since 2011, and from 2018 to 2020, I wasn’t making boards. That 2 year void allowed me to truly conceptualize what I wanted my “fingerboard brand” to be.

There’s a lot of people along the way who made this possible and I’m immensely thankful for the level of support I’ve received over the last 6 years. Here’s to many more years 🍻

Little project I was working on before my trip. For those unfamiliar, that little piece I put in there was Fordite. Fordite is essentially thousands of layers of paint from the Ford/other auto companies. Pretty cool. The wood itself reminds me of something almost planetary with the resin reminding me of space. Maybe the fordite is a UFO? 🛸 🤣

Well, it’s that time of year again where I make my annual trip up to the mountains for a couple months and step away from the shop.

Lately, I’ve been feeling really good about the progress being made with Doom Lagoon. Behind the scenes, I’m up every day before work from 5AM to 8AM handling prep, block making, stock making, board pressing, graphic/blank deck orders, and everything in between.

As proud as I am of the progress, I know stepping away for a bit always helps me reset creatively and come back with new ideas and a different perspective. It’s hard taking time away from something that’s become such a huge part of my daily routine, but I know the time away will be productive nonetheless.
Even while I’m away from the shop, a lot of prep was done beforehand and there’s a batch of boards currently en route to Canada for something big.

All graphic decks, blanks, and tape have been pulled from the site until I’m back in mid-August.

Big things ahead 🤝
