Join us at 6pm on Spetember 17th at the Durango Public Library to hear Thomas Lowe Fleischner talk about his book "Astonished by Beauty!"

This is a part of History Live Durango, and will be focused on natural history and its importance to healthy human individuals and societies. Thomas is a natural conservationist and biologist, and is a leading voice advocating for the importance and rejuvenation of natural history. ๐ŸŒต๐ŸŒฟ

The event was full of great discussions about connection, sharing, and even writing processes! We also had two Durango locals present who were mentioned in the book!

It's official: we have all of our wall and engagement calendars out in the store!!

School is back in full swing, and that means all of the young people out there are dealing with the ups and downs of being a student. We have put together a short list of books that school-aged kids might be able to relate to! Meet Mary!! She has had several differnt roles during her five years at Maria's Bookshop, but she is currently managing and coordinating with all of our local authors.

Mary loves literary fiction and any books having to do with animals or the natural world (especially bees!! ๐Ÿ) so feel free to ask her for any suggestions in those genres!

On Friday, September 11th at 6pm, Angel Vigil will be at the Durango Public Library talking about his book "Borderlands: Living in Two Worlds, The Story of Hispanics in the American Southwest." Along with discussing his book, he will be doing a Chautauqua presentation as Casimiro Barela, who was the longest serving state senator in Colorado history. Casimiro is known as the father of the Colorado Senate, who lived an epic life and lived history large.

Angel Vigil is an award-winning author, historian, performer, theater director, and author.

On September 3rd at 6pm, we will be hosting Kimberly Nath in Maria's Bookshop to talk about her book "The Loyalist Experience and Aftermath in Revolutionary Philadelphia."

In her book, she "effectively Illuminates the Revolution as both a civil war and a social upheaval, revealing how questions of belonging, property, and identity shaped life in one of the new nation's most divided cities."

This event is a part of History Live Durango and Southwest Colorado Humanities Roundtable.
