"Serenity Now" explores the idea that peace is rarely found, but intentionally created. The hand-formed clay display bowl grounds the piece in the earth, while the luminous glass center draws the eye inward like a calm lake reflecting the sky. Pine Needle Coiling traces the edge, honoring traditional craft while adding texture, warmth, and a connection to the Northwoods landscape that inspires my work.

Built from clay, fire, glass, and pine needles, Serenity Now is a reminder that peace often begins at the center, even when life around us remains imperfect.

🚩 STOP 29A
🎨 Rob Hom | MudPutzin Pottery
Guest Artist at Johanna B Ceramics

Every stop tells a different story.

Rob approaches clay with the curiosity of an explorerand the precision of a perfectionist. His work is driven by the belief that great pottery shouldn't simply be admired, it should invite conversation. Blending contemporary geometric forms with organic textures, wood ash glazes, pine needle coiling, copper inlay, and fused glass, his pieces celebrate the beautiful tension between structure and spontaneity. Every firing is a collaboration with the kiln, where flame, ash, and chemistry leave their own unmistakable signature. πŸ”₯🍢

Visitors to Stop 29A will discover a collection that refuses to fit neatly into a single category. Functional pottery sits comfortably alongside sculptural vessels and mixed-media creations, each exploring the relationship between earth, fire, metal, glass, and fiber. At MudPutzin Pottery, every piece is an invitation to look a little longer, notice another layer, and appreciate that the most compelling art often emerges when craftsmanship leaves room for discovery.

This July, wander the backroads and discover the artists who make the Northwoods unforgettable.

🏺 Meet the Maker: Rob Hom of Mud Putzin Pottery

Some artists paint the Northwoods.

Others photograph it.

Rob shapes it with clay.

Inspired by the forests, lakes, and quiet beauty of northern Wisconsin, Rob's handcrafted pottery reflects the textures and colors that surround us every day. Each piece is individually thrown or handbuilt, glazed, and finished by hand, creating functional art meant to be used, enjoyed, and passed along.

From earthy mugs that make morning coffee a little better to elegant vessels that bring the outdoors inside, Rob work combines craftsmanship with a distinctly Northwoods aesthetic.

His pottery reminds us that art doesn't have to hang on a wall. Sometimes it sits on the kitchen table, holds fresh flowers, or becomes part of our daily rituals.

Come meet Rob, hear the stories behind his work, and discover why collectors throughout the Northwoods have fallen in love with Mud Putzin Pottery.
