Scrapapalooza is a fun mystery quilt event where participants trade fabrics throughout the day. This quilt was designed by Jan and is full of surprises, easy techniques, and plenty of fun. Create either a quilt or a table runner—it’s a simple design that can easily be enlarged.
Class Materials
Please bring a total of 42 ten-inch squares:
* Red prints
* White/light-colored prints (think polka dots, stripes, florals, and other non-directional prints)
* Blue and navy-blue prints
The light-colored prints from a layer cake work great. You may also cut 10-inch squares from your fabric stash before you come to class
Also bring:
* 20 white strips, 2½ inches wide (jelly roll strips or cut from yardage)
How It Works
When you arrive, there will be three fabric baskets:
* Red prints
* White/light prints
* Blue prints
All fabrics will be mixed together in their color baskets. For each block, you’ll select enough fabric to complete that block. Once finished, you’ll choose fabric again for the next block.
At the end of the day, everyone will take turns selecting fabrics from the baskets to take home, ensuring you leave with approximately the same amount of fabric you brought, along with the blocks you’ve completed.
The white jelly roll strips will not be traded and should remain with you throughout the class.
Expect fun surprises, new techniques, and lots of laughs along the way!
