POSEIDON’S TRIDENT

Forged in the depths of the to***co gods, Poseidon’s Trident is a legendary Culebra composed of three intertwined ci**rs: each crowned with a distinct wrapper: golden Connecticut, midnight-dark Maduro, and emerald-green Candela.

The Connecticut wrapper opens the voyage with luxurious waves of toasted cream, vanilla, golden hay, almonds, and soft cedar. The Maduro surges forward with dark chocolate, espresso, molasses, black pepper, and caramelized brown sugar. Then the Candela cuts through the richness like a flash of sea-green lightning, releasing vibrant notes of fresh herbs, green tea, citrus zest, wildflowers, and clean vegetal sweetness.

Birger Hauser (BHA) pipes are a fascinating piece of Danish pipe history.

Working in the Copenhagen area from the early 1990s through the early 2000s, Hauser produced pipes in small batches rather than on a large commercial scale. Each one reflects the hands-on character collectors appreciate: quality briar, attractive birdseye or straight grain, distinctive Danish styling, vulcanite stems, and carefully finished details such as horn and brass accents.

Representative BHA styles include straight Bulldogs, smooth bent Apples, and Hexagon Rhodesians: but the maker’s appeal goes beyond any one shape. Their short production period, limited output, and primarily local Danish distribution make them uncommon finds today.

Prices can vary considerably depending on shape, condition, originality, and provenance. New or unsmoked examples have appeared around the $140–$250 range, but that is not a guarantee or appraisal.

A great deal on a scarce Danish handmade pipe! 🔥

This compact bent Apple by Jens “Tao” Nielsen is heading into Richard Messineo’s Monday night Briarville Email Sale for just $395.00: a great deal!

Tao Nielsen is one of Denmark’s respected second-generation master pipe makers. He began his career working with Erik Nørding, later helped establish Svendborg Pipes with Poul Ilsted, and eventually opened his own workshop.

This example features a deep, craggy burgundy and dark-brown sandblast, a genuine bamboo shank extension with beautifully preserved natural nodes, dark accent rings, and a hand-cut tapered black stem. At approximately five inches long, it’s compact, well-balanced, and distinctive. The briar is stamped with Tao’s stylized maker’s mark over “Handmade in Denmark.”

The pipe has been professionally cleaned and restored and is ready to enjoy. Genuine Tao Nielsen bamboo examples are scarce and receive additional collector interest.

Recommended asking price: $595. A reasonable selling range would be $475–$550, making the Monday night sale price of $395 an exceptional opportunity. Better get on the list before this one is gone!

Some pipes are made to be smoked. Others are made to be studied. Handarbejde Borg Mortensen pipes belong in both categories.

“Handarbejde” means handmade: and that distinction matters. These Danish pipes show the kind of hands-on work collectors look for: careful shaping, balanced proportions, close attention to briar grain, and a finish that lets the wood and the maker’s design do the talking. Their classic Danish freehand styling gives each pipe a distinct personality, while quality briar and thoughtful engineering can make them excellent smokers as well as beautiful objects.

Why are they rare? Borg Mortensen was a smaller-output maker compared with the major factory brands, so fewer examples entered the market. Add limited surviving documentation and the fact that many have disappeared into private collections, and finding an attractive example can take patience.

Why can they command a high price? It comes down to the individual pipe: labor-intensive handwork, briar quality, distinctive design, grain, condition, provenance, scarcity, and collector demand. There is no guaranteed value: each pipe must be judged on its own merits: but the right Borg Mortensen can be a serious addition to a Danish pipe collection.

Collectors, stop what you’re doing because we’ve found a total mystery in the workshop. This Stanwell Jubilee 1942–1982 is a piece of pipe history that shouldn't technically exist: or at least, it defies the standard dating guides!

This is the classic Shape 03, a stunning straight billiard with a tapered vulcanite stem. But here’s where it gets interesting: the stamping. While the Jubilee line was released in 1982 to celebrate Stanwell's 40th anniversary, this specific pipe carries the 'Regd. No. 969-48' stamp. Normally, that registration number was retired in the late 60s or very early 70s.

What are we looking at? It’s likely an undocumented factory anomaly or a very early production run where an old die was brought back into service for the anniversary. It’s the kind of discovery that gets us pipe nerds really excited because it provides real-world evidence that the rules sometimes have exceptions.

Beyond the rare nomenclature, the briar is top-tier. We’re talking gorgeous vertical flame grain dancing around the bowl and crisp birdseye on the heel and rim. It’s in Excellent Estate condition (a solid 9/10) with the original crowned 'S' stem and perfectly preserved lines.

This is one of the first authenticated examples of a 1982 Jubilee carrying this specific registration stamping. It's a rare find that definitely deserves a spot in a serious collection. Keep a sharp eye on our Monday night sales: you won't want to miss the chance to grab this piece of Danish history!
