Hello customers,
I have a bit of a somber announcement to make today. After a lot of thought and debate I've decided that we will be closing Hollow Mountain next month.
First of all, I want to sincerely thank everyone that has been a customer and community member with us over the last six years. It has been an awesome experience, and it couldn't have been this special without a great group of people hanging out and building a really wonderful community.
I know everybody will have a lot of questions about what's going on, so I'm gonna try to address all of the biggest ones here. If you have questions that aren’t addressed in this post, feel free to ask.
When are we closing? Our last day will be December 11. We'll spend a few days after that moving out, but that will be our last day open.
Why are we closing? There's a lot of factors that lead to the decision. As some of you may know, Dylan will be moving at the end of this year and that corresponds to the end of our current lease. Renewing it for the next few years would be a very large commitment, especially with the ever increasing challenges of having a brick and mortar shop in this day and age. The most important factor however, is that, after a lot of thought, I am just ready to move on to try something new and different.
What's happening to all our stuff? We're immediately putting a 40% discount on all weekly comics and a 15% discount on all graphic novels, RPGs, gaming supplies and board games as long as you purchase them with cash or card. We will most likely increase these discounts as we get closer to closing, but we won't be restocking most products so if you want to grab something it might not pay to wait. We will not be discounting Magic cards. We can't apply these discounts to store credit purchases. Almost all the furniture and marketing material is for sale as well. I'll make another post in the coming days that will go more into specific details on that stuff, but if you're interested in any of it feel free to reach out via Facebook Messenger right away.
What's happening with store credit? It'll be usable until we close, but any credit not spent by the 11th will be lost. Like I already mentioned, we can't apply the closing discounts to purchases made with store credit, but you can still use it on anything in the shop. We may still be able to special order product, but only for a short time, so if you are interested please get in contact with us soon.
What's happening with events? We will continue all planned events as usual up until December 7th. These events will have the usual entry and same payout in store credit, but we'll require winnings to be spent on the day they are received. On the 7th and 8th we're gonna do a final Modern tournament for Magic and a last Commander day as a chance for everyone to gather and play here one last time! It will be a good send off to the store and we’ll try and make it special for everyone who participates. We'll have an event up with details on that soon!
Again, thank you all so much for supporting us while it lasted, I'll never forget it! Hopefully I'll run into you all at the other great game stores with have in Lansing!
