Otaku’s Oasis Update 🌸

We wanted to give everyone a transparent update on where things are headed for Otaku’s Oasis.

For now, we’ll be stepping away from online manga box orders. Unfortunately, between lower-than-expected sales and the shutdown of our TikTok Shop which resulted in lost product, revenue, and momentum for the business continuing the boxes in their current form is no longer financially sustainable for us right now.

While this has definitely been frustrating and discouraging, it also pushed us to think bigger about what Otaku’s Oasis could become.

Over the past year, we’ve realized the strongest part of Otaku’s Oasis has always been the community side of anime and gaming culture: conventions, artist alleys, meetups, events, creators, cosplay, and shared experiences.

Because of that, we’re now shifting our focus heavily toward developing the Otaku’s Oasis app with the goal of launching by the end of Summer 2026.

Features currently in development include:

✨ Interactive convention maps
✨ Live panel schedules & updates
✨ Artist alley & vendor discovery
✨ Community meetup groups
✨ Event announcements & notifications
✨ Ticketing & QR check-ins
✨ Organizer tools & dashboards
✨ Social features for anime & gaming fans

Our goal is to create a platform that genuinely improves the anime convention experience for fans, vendors, artists, and organizers alike.

That said… while app development is becoming our primary focus, manga boxes may not be completely gone forever 👀 We’ve recently started exploring opportunities that could allow Otaku’s Oasis manga boxes to appear in limited quantities at select anime specialty shops in the future.

Nothing official to announce just yet but we’re excited about what’s ahead.

Thank you to everyone who supported our manga boxes, visited our booths, shared our posts, and believed in us while we figured things out. Even through setbacks, we’re still building just in a different direction than we originally planned.

THANK YOU EVERYONE!

We ( I, .4ng3l.ne7 https.4ng3l.ne7) would like to thank each every one of you who have supported this small business. The past two years have been such a learning experience for me and I got to meet so many amazing people. All of you!

I have enjoyed every convention, every pop up, every game night, etc.

As many of you know, our TikTok shop got shut down last fall. This was a huge blow as we lost over $3K in inventory and profit. This was money we used to attend cons as vendors, stock up on manga, and pay for general upkeep like our website, shipping, and travel. We struggled adopting other channels like Shopify and Squarespace. Additionally, my heart just isn’t in it anymore. I started when I was a junior in college and now I just completed my first year in my masters program and work full time.

Through all of the ups and downs I am very happy that I’ve done all of this. I’m especially grateful to and for continual support.

We do plan on continuing events partnered with and will complete our app by the end of the year, but our online shop will be closed indefinitely. Our app WILL get completed by the end of the year and will be in full service. We will not leave the anime space but things will look different.

I am starting a new project called where I will explore how young people can turn religion/spirituality into something inclusive and positive rather than exclusionary. It will explore different beliefs and philosophies and attempt to combat fear based rhetoric targeted to young people. If that’s your vibe then stick around! I will of course infuse anime into that as well :) but this page will go through a rebrand in the following week and I hope you stick around and if you feel inclined to we’d love to hear your story.
