Master potter Masakazu Kusakabe from japan - fukushima passed away last night (76 years old), the construction of my wood kiln built in 2006 is largely based on his book, master woodstacker and inventor of the sasukenei smokeless kiln, also the first years we lit in my wood stove tending time, 6 days loading and 4 days and 3 nights firing were based on firing in his book actually the best book on wood firing, we taught workshops and had exhibitions together, he was the kind of person you could talk to once and be friends for life most of all he was devoted to his craft and one of the most generous person I have every met.
