Work In Progress Wednesday.

This WIP Wednesday, we’re looking at some Plague Marines. Quite an odd start, you might think. But, with thin coats and stippling, what’s underneath those subsequent paints will make a difference. Or, at least, that’s what Josh is betting on.

Coming up for preorder this Saturday:

The Sons of Behemat rampage on into the Mortal Realms. With new Boss-Stompers, Ma Maegran, the Stomper Tribe, battletome, war scroll cards, dice, and even a Mega-Gargant standalone game: Brawlers of Behemat! It’s really going to be a BIG weekend!

From Middle Earth, we’ll also see preorders on Battlehosts for Rohan, Dol Guldur, and Mirkwood. Each of these forces are a great way to start a large army, and each includes a familiar face or two from the films!

Preorders go live Saturday at high noon. You know what to do, and where to be.

The green tide crests.

The Orks have arrived.

So much green hobby goodness awaits you in the New Releases section today. They’re joined by Black Library releases Bjorn, Demolisher, and the illustrated and annotated version of Ghazhkull Thraka: Prophet of the Waaagh!

And today will also be the last iteration of Miniature of the Month, so make sure to pop in and get that Space Marine Scout while supplies last.*

The collectible coin program is sticking around, however, so don’t fret on that count.

And, on preorder at noon, we’ll be returning to everyone’s favorite hiveworld, with Underhive Journals, card packs, dice, and new gang crew expansions for both Escher and Goliath, complete with pets, all in plastic. From the Black Library, we’ll be seeing the hardback version of Blackheart: Claws of the Maelstrom and Voice of Command.

Last, but never least, White Dwarf 528 will be going up for preorder.

It’s going to be a long weekend. Have you got all the hobby supplies you need for it? We’ll be closed on Monday for the holiday, so pop in before then and stock up on paints and miniatures so you don’t run out!

*: We know many of you are saddened to see the end of this chapter of our in-store offerings. Trust us when we say that the Community team have the right of it, and while this chapter is closing, a new one—one that we can’t say much about just yet—is coming, and we think it might be even better.

We’ve gotten the word. A big swath of the Get Before It’s Gone section is getting…well, gone? 🤷‍♂️

Sadly, time’s running out.

These kits are leaving for the warehouse. They’ve got until tomorrow (Friday) evening to find a home in some hobbyist’s collection, and then they’re packed up and headed out.

Some of these miniatures—like the legendary Razorback—we may never see available in the shop again, and are truly Last Chance To Buy. Others are simply no longer going to be on our shelves, and will instead be online only products, as they’re making room for other miniature sets here in store.

Coming up on preorder this Saturday:

The gangs of Necromunda move into the new edition of the game in earnest, with Houses Escher and Goliath getting new recruits, dice, and Hive Journals. These new crew boxes will include pets like the iconic Sump Croc, updated and in plastic. These fangs (and those that follow) will be great additions or starting kits for those of you looking to participate in our store’s next Necromunda Campaign, which will be kicking off in a few weeks.

From the Black Library, Blackheart: Claws of the Maelstrom pits the Tyrant of Badab against the Hivemind, as Huron’s tormenting of the White Scars receives a fairly huge interruption. This one will be available in Special Edition and hardback.

Also coming from Black Library, Voice of Command follows a Cadian regiment’s efforts to throw off a Chaos invasion of an Ecclessiarchal shrine world, complete with celestial omens and Inquisitorial interference—we mean, inquiries. 🧐

And, last but not least, White Dwarf 528 goes on preorder, including the new Ogor Mawtribes making bonemeal out of Ossiarch Bonereapers, a Paint Splatter article full of tips for painting those big lads and lasses, a hobby article on Cogfort conversions, 40K Ork lore, and rules for the Gorkanaut* in the Titanic Duel mini game.

And it’ll be the first Saturday of the month, so we’ll have some Space Marine Scouts and Collectible Coins when we open the door. The Scouts are free on a first-come, first-served basis for folks walking in**, and the coin will be free with every purchase of $100 or more.

It’s going to be a big weekend, particularly with all that green goodness that will be going on offer in the New Releases section, too.

**: Like many of you, we have heard some rumors about the Miniature of the Month going away. We suggest coming in and talking with your local hobby specialist or watching Warhammer Community to get the ground truth. The folks at Sector Command have been working on giving you more choice—as you’ve seen with our increased in-store inventories and the new Battle Honours program—so there’s almost definitely more to that story. 😉

Noble denizens of Fountain Place:

This Saturday, August 29th, at 12:30 PM, we will be holding the Silver Squig Painting Competition.

Categories will be the following:

Miniature of the Month: This month’s mini. So, if you snagged one of those Ork Boyz, or even popped in to paint your first miniature and selected an Ork, you’ve got a model to enter this category.

Hammer Time: After finally changing the name above the door to the Warhammer brand, let’s ring in the occasion. Any Warhammer miniature with a hammer.

The winner for each category will be invited to paint up a bit and “leave their mark” on the Silver Squig trophy the first time they win.

To qualify: Entry miniatures must be a Warhammer miniature, past or present, based and painted by you. Any additional bitz must be sculpted or otherwise created by you.
