FFL TRANSFER PRICING UPDATE

We appreciate everyone who chooses Bob’s Guns for their fi***rm purchases and transfers. We also want to explain a change to our FFL transfer pricing and why we are making it.

After reviewing all internet transfers from the last 45 days, we found that 91% of incoming FFL transfers arrived without any prior notification from the customer. Of the remaining 9% of transfers we were notified about in advance, only about 3% of customers contacted us before purchasing their fi***rm online and gave us the opportunity to see if we could provide it locally or match the total online price.

An incoming fi***rm transfer involves much more than simply receiving a package.

Each transfer requires staff time to:

Receive and process the shipment
Enter the fi***rm and serial number into our electronic bound book
Pay software fees associated with each fi***rm entered
Contact the customer when the fi***rm arrives
Complete the required transfer paperwork
Complete the required background-check process
Print, file, and maintain the required records
Complete the compliance and recordkeeping requirements associated with the transaction

When everything is considered, our estimated administrative and compliance cost to process a transfer is approximately $15–$21 before the shop makes anything on the transaction.

Because of this, our FFL transfer pricing will be:

$35 — Standard Incoming FFL Transfer

$25 — If you contact Bob’s Guns before purchasing online and give us the opportunity to match the total price, including shipping and transfer fees, and we are unable to do so.

NFA TRANSFERS — PRICING REMAINS THE SAME

You must notify us before purchasing an NFA item or the transfer may be denied.

$75 — NFA transfer if you are not already in our system

$50 — NFA transfer if you are already in our system

We understand that sometimes there are online deals we simply cannot match or fi****ms we cannot obtain. We have absolutely no problem completing those transfers. We are simply asking that you give your local gun shop an opportunity before making your purchase.

In many cases, once shipping and transfer fees are added to the online price, we may be able to meet or beat the total cost while keeping your business local.

For those wondering about the NFA lawsuit, here is what it means for us in NC.

Suppressors are legal to purchase in NC but the paperwork and background check/wait remains for NC residents. Unfortunately we are one of 15 states where we can not sell without them being NFA regulated. North Carolina General Statute §14-288.8 defines a fi***rm suppressor or silencer as a "weapon of mass death and destruction." please call you state representatives and let them know you would like them deregulated at the state level so we can enjoy the freedoms Americans in other states will now get to enjoy.

"Big news for the NFA industry this week: our lawsuit against the ATF was decided in our favor. Assuming the ATF doesn't file an appeal by midnight tonight, the large majority of dealers and customers will be able to purchase and transfer suppressors with just a 4473 — no Form 4 required.
There are a few important caveats here, based on guidance from both our inside and outside legal counsel:
Silencer Shop dealers selling Silencer Shop inventory in approved states are covered. Because Silencer Shop is a plaintiff in this case, our customers benefit from injunctive relief — any inventory sourced from us is good to go.
Some states were named directly in the lawsuit; others still require the Form 4 process because state legislation there references the NFA specifically. Please review the list below carefully:
Free State: inventory sourced from Silencer Shop can be transferred on a 4473 alone.
NFA State: Form 4 is still required, since your state law references the NFA directly.
Banned State: suppressors remain banned, no change.
This ruling covers suppressors and AOWs only — it does not apply to SBRs or SBSs. Form 4s are still required for those items.
This is a massive win — one that Silencer Shop and others have fought hard for — and it's going to be huge for our industry.
