Elderberry dates back to Roman times and studies show that folks taking elderberry extract in the first day or two of an influenza-like illnesss recover 4 days sooner than the other people in the research group who were taking a placebo. I am blown away by the fact that although it’s products are easily found, the large majority of elderberry syrups are filled with j***y ingredients which include cheap sugars and preservatives. Finding one with local, organic ingredients (read:honey!) was near impossible, so I decided to try to make it on my own. My elderberry literally contains 6 ingredients, and local honey from our friends The Wooden Bee
