I’ve had the privilege of painting what feels like hundreds of portraits over the years, but I think this one is my favorite. I tend to say that about every “new” painting, but each peice of art holds its own enthusiasm.

I am very far from a professional, which makes it even more special to create artwork for every client. Now that summer is out and I am back in the studio, I look around at the (very few) paintings left from when we made this space to paint. It is a blessing to observe how every painting is another opportunity to practice details and improve in my craft. I can confidently say I am probably better at painting than communicating, which is something I try my very best to improve. Every summer I keep one common goal: to be better than the year before. It takes a lot of patience and strategy, but every summer I critique the system.

It is a wonderful feeling, thinking how I used to practice painting portraits as a kid, hoping one day I would have a portion of the skill to paint for others.

With that being said, thank you from the bottom of my heart for the opportunity to paint this portrait, her timeless dress and smile will always be cherished! I can not wait to share more paintings that I have been working on. Hoping everyone had a blessed Mother’s Day
