Anju has really done our pattern justice! This is the On The Mountain Cowl, and Anju’s on a roll!! She did not know how to knit mosaic prior to this so we found a scrap yarn and a more basic pattern for practice, then she dive right in. Lots of beautiful gifts in the making. Liza designed this cowl about seven years ago; it’s so gratifying to see it being knit so well. Thanks, Anju! Anju’s knitting with Woolfolk Tynd (cowl was originally designed for The Fibre Co Road to China Light). Works so well. Find the pattern on Ravelry! Find Tynd (or any sport weight) with us.

We had a super little model arrive just as Lisa finished her first hat EVER today! And he did his job proudly! We were all thrilled. Lisa had a glimpse of how good it will look on its intended recipient. Such a cute hat (on a very cute boy too). Made quickly and with love out of Malabrigo Rasta. We had so much fun, we’re doing it again!! Mary Jane Mucklestone will join us again next summer for our July 2027 Hiking+Knitting retreat at the Shrine Mountain Huts🌸!! We’re already looking forward to her expert fair isle knitting sessions, and to relaxing and hiking in the wildflowers and beauty of the Colorado Rockies. Dear lovely followers! We are so thrilled to share that on November 1, 2027, we’re passing the Maker+Stitch torch to our new owner, Natalie Thompson💛 (photos of the three of us hugging coming soon 😉). Natalie has been a customer of ours for years; she is a local yarn dyer and spinner who has lived in the valley for almost 20 years. Natalie is excited to create the next chapter for Maker+Stitch, including everything we’ve built together and fresh new energy to take it to the next level. She plans knit-a-longs, in-store project nights, happy hours, etc!

Nine years ago, a hiking and knitting trip to Iceland gave Cathryn and Liza an idea: a cozy place in the Vail Valley where people could connect over fiber..and maybe a little bit of “hiking” 🧶.

You filled our couch with laughter, support, connection, advice about knitting, crocheting, life, contractors, you name it. These conversations cross every generation and have connected people from all over the world and even people from around the corner. You saw and supported us through hard times and celebrated the good ones with us.

📍 The shop is moving to a new home at Riverwalk, between The Boardroom and The Alpine Art Studio.

🛒 Our online shop will stay open throughout the move.

⏸️ The shop will close briefly from November 1st until around Thanksgiving (stay tuned for more on exact re-opening date) for the move.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for nine beautiful years. The couch is coming with us. See you at Riverwalk! ✨
