We are reopening to donations! We finally found the floor, so this Sunday (Sept. 6) we will accept donations 12-2p. Please come to the ADA entrance on Hillsboro (the ramp leading to the lower level) and a volunteer will help you with your books.

Attached is our donation policies regarding what we can take and can't take. Please do note we can only accept five boxes per person each month; there's only so much space!

Also: Please do NOT dump books at the door when we are not there. The books are ruined by the elements and that makes us sad. Feel free to contact fair organizer Elizabeth Donald at [email protected] if you have any questions.

Happy National Book Lovers' Day! For your humble fair director, the book that has stayed with me the longest is probably IT by Stephen King, which will probably get me thrown out of the English Department but it's reaaaally good. What's yours?

Dear friends: We are still closed to donations, but even if we weren’t, these books are piled under a sign that says, “Do Not Dump Books Here.“ We are not at the church every day, and your books will get rained on. We love your books. We want your books. And that’s why we don’t want them sitting out, exposed to the elements and potentially destroyed before we can find them. We hope to reopen to donations in September, so watch this page for those announcements. Thank you!

Hey folks: if you missed this announcement, we are currently CLOSED to donations. The pile is approaching Himalayan proportions! Once we get ahead of it, we will reopen on our usual schedule of accepting donations on the first Sunday of the month - please watch this page for announcements! You can also message us here if you have questions. Thank you!

Ordinarily next weekend would be our monthly donation day. That's Independence Day weekend, and we are really overloaded with donations right now. So we are temporarily closing to donations until we can dig out from the pile - hopefully only one month, but we will keep you posted. We hope you can wait us out until we clear through the piles, but if not, we encourage you to donate to the Greater St. Louis Book Fair across the river. They have several dropboxes throughout the city and their proceeds benefit literacy efforts in St. Louis. Thank you and happy Independence Day!

W. Somerset Maugham was a British writer known for his sharp insight into human nature and his clear, elegant prose. One of the most widely read authors of the early 20th century, he wrote novels, plays, and short stories that explored the complexities of life and character. His words often reflect a quiet belief in literature as a source of comfort, reflection, and refuge.
