Baseball Card Connection

10/24/2026

TRICK OR TREAT is this TODAY, Saturday, 10/24 in Downtown Effingham, Illinois!

The Baseball Card Connection retail store will open on Saturday, 10/24, from 10:00am - 3:00pm.

We will also be participating in the Downtown Effingham Trick or Treat for kids from 1:00pm - 3:00pm.

Participating businesses will be handing out candy to trick or treaters. This fun event, sponsored by the Effingham Chamber of Commerce & Downtown Effingham Business Group, provides a family friendly and safe environment for your little trick or treaters. This event is held during daylight hours, so all participants can see and enjoy all of the different Halloween costumes in a safe environment.

The Baseball Card Connection will be very well stocked with thousands of pieces of candy to pass out to participants. We will also have special items available, including Baseball, Football, Squishmallows, and Pokemon unopened packs of trading cards (while supplies last). We will also have Fruit Snacks for children who need gluten free treats (just ask Lisa if you would like one).

We are looking forward to a “spooky” Saturday in downtown Effingham that will also be “sweet” with candy and treats – please come and join us!

Thank you Kiwanis Club for inviting us to speak about our business. We love talking about the trading card industry and the joy it brings to our lives. We are proud to be a small part of the wonderful Effingham business community.

On October 7th, Jon & Lisa Schafer spoke to Kiwanis about what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur as owners of Baseball Card Connection in downtown Effingham. From its beginning in Jon’s parents’ home to growing into a top EBay collectible shop & brick and mortar destination, The Baseball Card Connection is the result of hard work, dedication, and a passion for the industry.

Thanks to Jon Lisa Schafer for sharing your dream with Kiwanis.
