Meet the Bumblebee Goby — tiny fish, BIG personality! 💛🖤

These little gobies get their name from their adorable yellow-and-black “bumblebee” stripes. They stay small, usually reaching only around 1–1.5 inches, making them a fun choice for smaller aquariums.

🌊 Fun Fact: Bumblebee Gobies naturally live in brackish water, where freshwater mixes with saltwater. While they can sometimes adapt to freshwater, they generally do best when kept in water with some salinity.

🍽️ They’re also little hunters! Bumblebee Gobies prefer meaty foods such as frozen or live brine shrimp, bloodworms, and other tiny foods rather than relying on flakes or pellets alone.

🕷️ Not all eight-legged friends are scary! 🕷️

This little Jumping Spider is showing off one of the things that makes these spiders so fascinating—they rely on their excellent vision and impressive jumping ability to hunt their prey! 👀✨

Unlike spiders that wait for prey in a web, jumping spiders are active hunters that stalk and pounce on their meals. And those big forward-facing eyes? Adorable and highly effective! 😍

🐠 Fish Fact Friday! 🐠

Meet the Banded Leporinus (Leporinus fasciatus)! 🖤💛 Also known as the Black-Banded Leporinus or Banded Headstander, these striking fish are native to the Amazon and Orinoco river systems of South America.

Those bold black-and-yellow stripes aren't their only claim to fame! 👀

✨ They can grow BIG! Adults can reach around 10–12 inches long, so that tiny striped fish you see at the store can eventually become quite the impressive aquarium resident.

🌿 They love their veggies! Leporinus are omnivores with a strong preference for plant matter. In the wild, they graze on algae, biofilm, fruits, seeds and other vegetation, while also eating small invertebrates. In the aquarium, algae-based foods and vegetables can be an important part of their diet.

🏊 They're active swimmers. In nature, they inhabit rivers, tributaries and flooded forest areas and appreciate plenty of swimming space and good water movement.

😲 Watch that lid! Banded Leporinus are excellent jumpers, especially when startled, so a secure aquarium cover is a must.

🐟 And here's something to keep in mind: Despite their gorgeous appearance, they aren't always the best choice for a typical community aquarium. As they mature, they can become territorial and may nip the fins of slower or long-finned tankmates. They also may snack on smaller fish.

Basically… beautiful, active, hungry, and a little bit sassy! 😂🖤💛

🐟✨ Fish Fact Friday: Male Bettas! ✨🐟

Take a look at this handsome Rosetail Betta! 🌹🐟 Those gorgeous, flowing fins are what make Rosetails such a showstopper!

🌹 Fun Fact: Rosetail bettas are a type of fancy betta bred for their exceptionally full, branching fins. Their tails can develop so many rays that they create a beautiful, rose-like appearance—hence the name!

💡 Male bettas are also known for being highly territorial, which is why two males should never be housed together. Despite their feisty reputation, they can make amazing pets when given the proper setup and care!

Who else could resist that face and those fins? 😍
